- I'm behind in a lot of shows, caught a wee bit of House last night. So they killed off that one guy? (Whose name I can't remember since it's always been "there's House...and all these other people" to me.) I really hate when shows kill off characters. It's a bit like making someone pregnant for a dramatic Sweeps birth, only to never see the child again. And...the guy they killed off? Pretty much the one person who had non-predictable dialog on a regular basis. MEH, House. MEH. Well, this show had been waning on me for a while - ever since I realized that they never ever ever stray from their little plot formula. Ever.
- I'm really really really hoping this means Donna will be able to regain her memories. There's the issue of her not returning to DW/travel with the Doctor again (unless they'll pull a surprise and have CT return in S5), so maybe she'll have something in her life to keep her there. It would be lovely to find that Donna's found her own self-worth, which is something she never could find while with the Doctor - only finding it after absorbing part of the Doctor. Donna needs to know that Donna is a fabulous person. Not DoctorDonna.
So far only rumors of BP returning. And with the obvious Donna & Wilf focus in the storyline, I can't imagine that Rose would be playing any kind of major role, if any. They've done the whole reunion thing already. Perhaps a flashback? I'd take new material in a flashback. Although, I do think there are Issues that could be resolved. And BP has said that she wanted to be there for the regeneration. I think it'd be lovely to have all three there - Donna, Martha and Rose. I mean actually there with him, not just as flashbacks. Surrounded by the people who'd been the most important to him during the RTD era, and not alone and sobbing in the rain. (TAKE NOTE, RTD.)
Just don't be killing/hurting/maiming Ten II!! I'm completely in love with the little world RTD created by sending Rose and Ten II to the altverse (along with Jackie.) DON'T WRECK THAT. Actually, I think it could be a bit of fantastic to have the Doctor regenerate to Eleven in the middle of the story arc, and wind up with his semi-typical amnesia. Ten II then has to try to get Eleven to remember things (while probably battling the Master.) DT and MS running around together could be a great way to pass the torch. Last time the audience had Rose to help it through the transition, with her disbelieving and then accepting the new Doctor. This time the former Doctor himself could help the audience with the transition. At least if I were in charge, that's how I'd do it.

You should totally be in charge. *nods*

Unfortunately, I think they wanna make such a point of Moffat creating his new Doctor, that unless he's helped write the final special, I'm sure we'll only get a brief moment with Eleven in the specials. Suck.

I could see that happening. The Doctor would totally give up a regeneration for her. *pets*
While I have no expectation that Catherine will stay on, wouldn't it be brilliant to have her as the S5 companion? Instead of "No, no, no, we're not married," it would be "No no no, she's not my mum."
BWAH!!! I would predict a lot of ear pinching. :D

And sadly, RTD has already stated he's not writing any 11, so one has to assume that the regeneration's at the end. :p

I am MEH on House. I understand that Kal Penn wanted to leave but the fact that they did not really go into the reasons why, kind of bother me a bit. And he was probably the only "new" character that didn't annoy the crap out of me.
And Donna. So much win for that. I can't wait to see how they play out her character arc now. I'm just so glad that RTD did not leave it the way it ended in JE. That was my only true disappointment of the finale.

I didn't watch the whole thing and sort of caught it in the middle, but the moment I found out that the character had killed himself, I started rolling my eyes.

I'm happy too! Well, potentially happy. It would be SO NICE to end things on a generally positive note for a change.

I guess I've become extremely fatigued when it comes to certain kinds of "drama." Shows do horrible things to characters at a drop of a hat these days, and I'm just really tired of it. I would guess that at one time killing off a character would be shocking. Now it's "hmm, must be a Tuesday." And every person TV-land kills off, the less it makes me want to get emotionally invested in any show in general. It's why I completely wrote off Robin Hood.

That would be awesome! And isn't it a bit weird that we've known who 11 is for months, but no word yet on the regular companion? Although, if it were Catherine, I guess we'd be spoiled for it when they'd start filming in the Summer, which would ruin the Christmas specials...
I'm terribly afraid Donna is going to die. I can't shake Dalek Caan's prediction... the memory-wipe didn't fulfill it. And for Donna to somehow choose to regain her memories to save the Doctor and the world and then die because of it... would fit into RTD's mindset. But I can also see the Doctor giving up a regeneration for her. AAAGH! I'm going to go crazy in the next few months! One thing it's certain, it's going to be heart-breakingly amazing.

Yeah, I'd guess we'll find out soon enough then. I really kinda doubt it'll be Donna though. It sounds like they want to start with a clean slate in S5. Which could be good, or could be a misstep. In spite of what some grumble in fandom, there's a whole new generation watching (and actual new life to the show) *because* of what RTD did. The guy might write like a cracked-out squirrel at times, but he did something very right.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Didn't RTD say he'd never kill off a companion? I mean an *actual* companion - not a one-off character. It'd be too traumatic for the kiddies, wouldn't it? Won't someone think of the children??

Meanwhile, have you seen this interview of awesome from The Times? It's between David Tennant and Russell T. Davies, and they are hilarious and adore each other. But in it, Davies essentially says he will not write a single word for Eleven. That Eleven will be entirely Moffat's creation.
They all seem to be taking this handing over of the reigns very seriously, and very clearly delineating the separation. Which I guess I understand, but is sad in that at least for now, we wouldn't get anything like your idea.
I still hold out the tiny glimmer of hope that Rose and TenII may appear in some form. But as you say, since the focus seems to be on Wilf/Donna, it would likely only be a glimpse of them on the other side. Perhaps when the regeneration happens.

It helps me to know that he wanted to leave the show, but still. MEH.

I'm finding it a bit strange that they want *such* a separation. From a show-running perspective, I find it all pretty weird.

I'd still love for Rose, Martha and Donna to all be there. Oh, and for Ten II to get the coat. :D

As for House, Kutner's suicide killed me, even though I knew about it for weeks now. Though Kal Penn wanted out, apparently he's going to work in the White House (I still don't trust Ausiello despite it being from an interview with KP).
