I've been watching Spooks/MI-5. (Why did they change the title for the US market? Although I have to say I prefer "MI-5" to "Spooks.")
(The real reason I started this is because I want to work up to the later series when Richard Armitage joins the cast. :D)
Okay, MI-5? Makes the Torchwood crew look completely healthy and sane and well adjusted. FOR SERIOUS.
One thing that I've found fascinating is the amount of paranoia and...and I don't know quite what to call it. These people would kill and die for each other, but at the same time turn on each other in a second when it comes to internal politics. It's fairly fucked up. Oh, sometimes they'll justify it as "for the greater good," but not always.
The moles are also fascinating. Like having someone from the PM's office infiltrating MI-5, just to get good information. It'd be like the White House covertly sending someone into the FBI so they could get decent info as to what was going on on a regular basis. Does that happen? It kind of boggles my mind.
Also, so far no one ever simply walks away from MI-5. They're either killed in action (DANNY!! *SOBS*) or are pushed out of it (Tom and Zoe). At least Zoe was able to end up with her fiance in Chile, thanks to Danny. Oh Danny. *sniffs* And hopefully Tom skipped off to America to find the ex-CIA woman. I would love to see Tom and Zoe accidentally running into each other on the outside. I'm curious as to what they'll actually do now. What line of work do you go into after being a spy?
