TV time

  1. I watched the short promo for SGU. Obviously somebody's been watching tons of BSG. Heh. So given that TPTB have managed to cheese off both SG-1 and SGA fans in the not too distant past, will there be enough of an audience left to watch it? Oh hold on. This is going to be on SyFy, isn't it? That means tons of non-geeks will now be tuning in! "Well this seems like one of those science fiction shows I'm not really into, but I'm not watching the SciFi Channel. I think. [squints at SyFy logo] Nope. Okay, I'm in!"

  2. I watched all of Spaced. While I liked it and enjoyed it, I can't say that it was true love. It's definitely worth watching though, which is rare to say about any show these days. I'd describe it as mixing the rapid-fire pop culture references of "Gilmore Girls" with "When Harry Met Sally" while on welfare. And crack. (Which is a completely overused term these days, but does apply to Spaced.) I don't think I could ever not adore Simon Pegg, and this was my favorite Jessica Hynes role I've seen. (She usually plays someone you want to smack around, but Daisy was lovable.) Here's a sample clip if you're interested.

ETA: I just realized, there are three DW people in that clip. :D Simon and Jessica, obviously, but also unexpected Master! :D

  3. Do I remember someone saying that the Marple stories are worth watching? (The ones with Geraldine McEwan.) I'm looking for new Netflix stuff.

*snort* The only way I'll end up watching SGU is by catching up on it after a whole bunch of people whose opinions I respect have told me it's actually worth watching. Because at this point, I have no faith in the producers whatsoever.

Heeeee. You know, they haven't even switched the logo yet, but I'm told that'll probably happen in July. *eyeroll* Syfy. Good grief.

Yeah, me too. Also, I'm just not really in the mood for another BSG.

So. Dumb.

I'm going to give the first episode of SGU a shot. I don't like the looks of it, visually speaking, and the plot could either be awesome or quickly tiresome, but it's Stargate; I have to at least try it. Though why I'm giving them another chance to hurt me, I have no idea. Masochism?

(Seriously, Lou Diamond Phillips? Am I supposed to respect that guy as an actor? He's very off-putting to me.)

*snickers*

To me it just looks like a repeat of BSG. People lost in space, having to survive with each other... Yeah, it's BSG.

3. I liked them. Some stuff's changed from the books/stories but they're still fun. And I like Geraldine McEwan. :D

Oh good! *adds to Netflix*

The Geraldine McEwan marples are good - not as great as the old ones with Joan Hickson whose Marple is just spot on & adorable. They're definitely worth watching though, even if it took me a while to adjust to a new Miss Marple character.

As for SGU I might watch a few but I'm not dying with excitement here, you know what I mean? :-)

Joan Hickson was really cute as Marple, wasn't she? :) But I'm glad to know they're worth a watch.

And I know what you mean. :D

Haven't seen other Marples, but I like Geraldine McEwan! Her eyes really do twinkle. It's kind of weird except it's awesome.

:D Bless!
