I'm going to need to post some cuteness soon to make up for all this non-D/R.
I live in California, right? (Answer: yes.) So why is it that all they have at the grocery store are expensive, hard, tasteless fruit? IN SUMMER.
Never mind the expense, it's getting so that you have to grow your own food just to have something that passes as food. (If I ever win the lottery that I don't play, I'm getting a house with fruit trees! And a vegetable garden! And a cow! Okay, not the cow.)

(Also, I think you should grow fruit trees for me and ship down the fruit. I think this is a GREAT plan. :D)

The Doctor and Rose are not impressed with California
Or they've just seen Jackie naked. Hard to tell.

That said, the blueberries from my mom's backyard are about a zillion times better than store blueberries. :)

But other than that, I usually get good (though expensive, since it's shipped in from CA ten months out of the year) produce at Whole Foods. I got two pounds of amazing organic strawberries from CA there yesterday for $5. YUM.

Look at all the stuff on the East Coast!

I don't have a Whole Foods near me, but there is a non-chain market in town. I'll try there.

When I lived in Idaho, the stores didn't carry Idaho potatoes. The potatoes came from Oregon. WTF was that? The produce was also crap and most certainly not grown locally and yet, I knew that farmers were growing stuff - so I went to the farmers market. OMG, the food. Wonderful.
When I lived in North County, if you wanted kick ass strawberries, you didn't get them in the store. You went to the stands. There was this one out in Vista near my high school. yummy
