We are coming. Day One.
Forget the audios for now...
THIS. WAS. FAB!!!
This was bloody great storytelling! Some laugh out loud moments and some freaky moments and some things that absolutely surprised me! And I loved the little details, like Gwen saying "morning!" to a picture of Owen and Tosh.
I can't quite figure out what these dipshit UNIT guys are doing. (Or are they a British force?) Anyway, killing off the people that might be able to help? So either they're doing it for the aliens, or we don't know the whole history of things yet. Or both. That whole "Torchwood hub is a magnet" thing seemed like something you tell grunts so they'll carry out the mission.
I totally thought that Rupesh was going to fill Owen's place. Well, Team Torchwood did too. But BAM. A spy! And it seemed like he had such potential! But this is something that was rampant in Spooks as well - different agencies all trying to put moles in each other. What the HELL are they doing over in the UK??
I also thought that Lois would be taking Tosh's place, but now I'm not so sure. She might help out, but... I just don't know after Rupesh!
The personal stuff was nice too. Gwen and Rhys were sweet, and awww. Gwen's pregnant. And we see Ianto with his sister. (Don't think we've heard about her before, have we?) And then there's Jack. WHO IS A GRANDFATHER. Wow! At first I thought maybe Jack was the father of this kid, but nope. Really strange to hear a grown woman calling Jack "Dad."
But very interesting mystery to this whole thing. I can't wait to see how it pans out! If the rest of the series goes anything like this first episode, I'm totally getting these DVDs!
(Also a side note - they mentioned that Martha was on her honeymoon, so you can cross off that rumor of "Martha and Mickey are getting married in the Doctor Who specials!" STOOPID TABLOIDS. Not that I put anything into that rumor in the first place.)
ETA: Couple of other things I just remembered. How could I forget to mention Jack blowing up at the end? That is going to SUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK to come back after that. Poor Jack. :(
Also, the Jack/Ianto stuff was very very sweet. Poor Ianto though. He always looked like a kicked puppy during that whole "couple" thing.

YES. omg. How did I forget to mention this in my post.
That was basically the best.
Also the best?
How Tosh and Owen apparently took a picture together with their faces smooshed up against one another's.

Hopefully all the squee over the first night will have more people watching it on the second night.

THIS
I kept calling Ianto a puppy during my iPlayer rewatch. Cause he's adorable and is hopelessly in love with Jack but I keep waiting for the moment when he gets kicked. Cause he's obviously in deeper than Jack, at the moment (not that Jack doesn't love him back, but he's not as...smitten as Ianto).
But Gwen saying morning to the Tosh and Owen photo was lovely.
The whole episode was great. Is it 9pm yet?

Poor Ianto though. He always looked like a kicked puppy during that whole "couple" thing.
He really did. Poor Ianto. I luvs him so.
I miss Tosh and Owen :(

Me too! I'm sure I said "DAMN!" a couple of times. :D

It was a nice little nod to them.

Amazing start to these specials! So creeped out by the kids.
And poor Jack (poor everyone really) but seriously!? I wonder how long Jack will be away.

I don't like lois, i hope she does't end up joining. cant pinpoint why, just don't like her.
I was quite edge of seat stuff. Can't wait for tonights.

RTD was probably cackling away, knowing people would be thinking this.

I think she's sweet. However, maybe a bit too sweet to be working with the brutalities of Torchwood.

Yes. It was adorable but I think he pissed Jack off being freaked out by the couple thing. His sister was brilliant though! "So you're a bender now?" LMAO!!

Jack definitely was starting to get testy about the whole couple thing. Poor Ianto.

I thought it was really great as well. I liked that, in addition to telling a great story, they seemed to be doing it in a very "TV Movie" kind of way (in terms of the score and the use of establishing shots...which: CARDIFF IS PRETTY!). I am REALLY looking forward to the rest!

Oh that could be! That's probably it.

Yup! The way this started, you really could watch this as a whole stand-alone series. I think anyone could come in with this without having watched prior eps.

The Martha/Micky tabloid thing was more than stupid and obviously put out by people who don't even watch the shows. I do believe, though that we may glimpse the Martha/Tom wedding in Ten's last episode. It may fall in the timeline before COE. (Timey-whimey and all that)

It seems like it, doesn't it?

That could be. That would be sweet. :)

I never believed the stupid tabloid wedding stuff. But of course, it could still be her honymoon with Mickey! ANd then the Doctor can go to the wedding in a timey-whimey sense! Or...something :P If you really want to believe, I suppose
And I do feel sorry for Jack, having to come back after being blown to pieces.

*nods* If only they'd given us this kind of personal stuff before.

Pffffffft! :D

Yeah, that is going to REALLY hurt.
