Well, even though my flist was very good about cutting, moods and tags sorta gave away something huge. So, I figured there was probably a character death coming. And since Jack's had a few turns already, that left Ianto, Gwen or Rhys.
Poor Ianto. *sniffs* Couldn't you spit out the L word for a dying man, Jack? *kicks him*
I'm actually pretty surprised that they killed him off since Owen and Tosh were just killed off too! YEESH! Makes me wonder if Gwen's going to make it tomorrow. It wouldn't be the first time Jack's had to rebuild Torchwood after everyone's died. Maybe...the idea is to start fresh if there is a S4 of Torchwood? :-\
I'm thinking RTD better be wearing body armor at ComicCon though. I don't think he could run very fast. (I'm just glad he's always had a philosophy that the Doctor's companions never die. He finds a way to traumatize them enough as it is!)
The alien in the tank actually is the alien, in spite of my theory. But they still don't really make sense. I'm glad Gwen (I think it was her) asked the question of "yeah, but what do they need the kids for?" even after we saw inside the tank. Because...WHY? They better explain that tomorrow instead of leaving it as a big mystery. :P
However, they are pretty well screwed, aren't they? Now would be a great time to call the Doctor.
(Also, was I the only one thinking that Jack was eying that tank and thinking he might like to give that a try himself someday? :D)

I want to brag to someone that I totally called it that asshattery of humans would be the theme of this series. I miss Harriet Jones like woah.

Yeesh is right. What way for the era to end!! *blinks* I still *can't believe* they did that.

Yeah, that meeting was... *shudders*

Then again, it wouldn't be the first time Rusty fooled me, even though I'm pretty damn good (and cynical) about plotting within the SF genre.
That meeting in Downing Street. ::shudders:: I wonder how many people in the US will truly understand the underpinnings of that thought process, though; the class structure and the educational system? Yeah, the States has tried to be more equitable in schooling, with notable successes and some doozies of failures (hello, bussing in the 1960s, anyone?), but even with the inequality of education in the States, the mindset is different. I dunno, I may be speaking out of my ass, but when I was living in the UK and Ireland, I found that few people back in the States had the same perspective of generation upon generation of a class system that was the same.
Even without that understanding, a literal decimation of the population of the children of Earth, taken from (at least in the UK, and we can bet it would be similar in many other countries, because class asshattery rules worldwide) the least advantaged famiiies, is more horrifying than the alien.
And I think that may be Rusty's point in the end. Who's the real monster?

You just never know with him, do you? But...it's really all very weird, isn't it? I guess they're like symbiotes. The strange thing seems to be that they've not really changed all that much in 40 years. Maybe there's some sort of enzyme that kids produce that they need. Hmmm.
That meeting in Downing Street. ::shudders::
That really was as horrifying as the alien itself.

I couldn't help but to think that it wouldn't be the same discussion over here, since people important to society come from every class here. But then I wondered what kind of discussion would be taking place here.

People treating other people's children as "units" to be sold for their own safety? Yeah, it's pretty damn horrifying.

He tends to do that, doesn't he?

Actually, I have no idea where this is going. And it feels a bit too soon to have another main character die, doesn't it? Was bummed that Clem was killed too. Him and Gwen were really sweet :(
And that meeting was chilling. Utterly disgusting.

Agreed about the meeting. Jesus. That woman, especially.
(Though I did squee, inititally, to see Nick Briggs actually on screen!)

Oh yeah, I didn't think about that!
(Though I did squee, inititally, to see Nick Briggs actually on screen!)
Me too. At first I kept wondering why he seemed so familiar, and then, all of a sudden, remembered the hundreds "Exterminate!" we saw him doing in the Confidentials. Heee :)

And I still think something's not quite right with this alien thing. But if they've got the ability to transport millions of kids away, they've gotta have some sort of large ship or something.
The meeting was very disturbing.

I do. In my mind, the weird wailing/sound the alien makes is, in fact, an evil laugh, albeit an alien one. I'm just waiting for the translator to translate it to, well, a human evil laugh *nods* Because all along, when he's been banging his heads/tails/appendices and spewing his goo all over the tank, he's really been laughing his alien ass or equivalent off. *nods again*
I bit more seriously, when I think of my crack theory, I keep remembering the Toclafane from S3 of DW. They killed because it was fun. In that case I don't see why an alien couldn't mess with humanity just for fun or because it's/he's/they're/whatever slightly insane ^^
(see how these shows have twisted me? *shakes fist*)

Yeah. Surely he must have beamed down from somewhere...

Lol. Poor man.
I think Gwen is pretty safe as she's pregnant.

I hope they explain the kids as well...although, on the lines of the tank thing, what if it's some form of energy harvesting so settle on Jack because he's immortal. Once the 456 die out it could leave Jack in the sort of biological form the face of Boe was in..
They really do need to explain where the Dr is, and I'm finding it increasingly hard to believe that Martha would stay on her honeymoon with all of that going on!
