It's Dec. 6 already??

Well, even though I have internet at the new job, I'm not going to get into the habit of being in LJ-land while I'm there. There're just too many demands during the day which is a good/bad thing. Good because I *hate* having nothing to do at work and really prefer running around with a full, but manageable plate. Bad because I won't be able to play very often. *sniff* Well, that's life for you.

There was no way I could catch up on essentially two weeks worth of LJ posts, so I was given the condensed version. Apparently I missed:
  1. The fact that AT's boobs are too perky. Perk, perk, perk. You'd think they were making coffee. I ask you - can you really have boobs that are too perky? Why would you want non-perky boobs?

  2. AT's long hair. *cough* I can't say anything else because I've been banned from talking about anything remotely resembling a hair issue.

  3. Getting virtual cooties by visiting certain sites. Eeeek!

  4. The SJFA. Rules were explained to me, followed by much "Huh? Oh. Huh? Oh."-ing by me. The brain's not too good at the moment.

  5. Some sort of copyrights/photo-manipulating of promo shots. Or something. I wasn't really clear on the whole matter, but I assure you it'll get my full attention no later than the end of fiscal year 2006.
I really, really, really need to start Christmas shopping. Can't believe it's so late and I don't have a single present yet. Dang. I'm so behind this year. I think I need to go shopping now. Cost Plus (although a stupid name) is one of my favorite stores. Hmm...maybe people will be getting goodie baskets of things this year... OOO! Kitchen accessories are 20% off until the 7th!! *runs*

*giggling a lot* If it helps any, I've been only peripherally aware of only a small portion of this. Which is how you can tell when I'm busy at work. (And, y'know, at rehearsal many evenings.)

Glad you're liking the job!

Woo! I don't remember if I ever said congratulations (mind's swimming right now) - if not, CONGRATULATIONS! Is it going well?

I think you did. (If not, you were SO covered. I love my buds. *g*)

And yes, loving it a lot. Much interesting workshoppy process-y stuff that I haven't been able to do in a looooooooong time. *bounce*

How exciting!! When do performances start?

WOO HOO!!

[identity profile] lisayaeger.livejournal.com 2003-12-06 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I love that store, too!! And I never realized before, but that is a stupid name. Why would you want to pay the cost *plus*??? And yet I do...

[identity profile] wiliqueen.livejournal.com 2003-12-06 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's their cost plus not too much, instead of SRV (which is invariably ridiculous). Kinda like when you get a car for X amount over cost, it's a good deal because you're not paying the sticker price.

Or possibly I'm giving them too much credit. All I know is I love them because they're like Pier One, but (a) larger, (b) cooler and (c) cheaper. I am ALL about all of the above.

It's interesting to me, too, that they've kept the original "Cost Plus" as their primary name out West, but when they FINALLY expanded east of the Mississippi, it took me forever to realize it because they're called "World Market". I must have driven by the first one in Columbus ten times before I noticed the small Cost Plus logo above the new name.

[identity profile] lisayaeger.livejournal.com 2003-12-06 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I just went to one in IL while visiting my parents over the holiday, and it was a World Market there, too, but in CO it was Cost Plus! Confusing!

Did you mean Columbus OH? I went to school at OSU! If you meant MO, then never mind :-)

I went, like, SIX YEARS without one when I moved from Denver to Columbus. Badbadbadbadbad.

And yes, Columbus, OH. Just moved to Chicago from there this fall; hubby is actually still in the house in Hilliard. (One or two weekends a month = MAJOR suckage, but it's temporary.) We wound up there because he went to grad school at OSU.

[identity profile] lisayaeger.livejournal.com 2003-12-06 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I lived in Denver, too!! How strange!!! Whereabouts were you there? Hubby and I were working and attending DU in the Wash Park area.

We should friend each other :-)

Inaccurate me -- actually lived in Bennett. 1800 people and a grain elevator, about 30 miles east on I-70. Of course the 'rents moved up over Conifer after I moved out. *sigh*

Worked in Lakewood most of the time I was living at home after college, and did shows at Hunger Artists, the Victorian, South Suburban Theatre and Westminster Dinner Theatre. I know at least that last is no more; I moved Labor Day weekend in '93, the day after closing Bus Stop there.

We should friend each other :-)

Definitely!

[identity profile] lisayaeger.livejournal.com 2003-12-07 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
I lived in Lakewood for a time, too, at Hampden and 285. I love living in Maine now, and as soon as I uncover my shovel, I'll be able to get out!

*hugs new friend*

BTW, the one in Missouri is Columbia. There is, however, a Columbus, GA. I learned this after living in Ohio for about two years and wondering why people elsewhere would almost always say "Columbus, Ohio?" when I said I lived in Columbus.

All became clear following a news item in which an airline screwed up and booked some poor delegates from...um, somewhere in western Africa, IIRC...to the wrong Columbus, and they got stranded in Georgia when they were supposed to be at a peace conference in Ohio!

[identity profile] lisayaeger.livejournal.com 2003-12-06 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, right!! Well, to be honest, geography and me weren't good friends ;-) Funny story though!

Love the icon- where is that pic from? 100 Days?

Not sure; [livejournal.com profile] allisnow made it.

If it were Sam, I could probably tell you, but I'm not as good with random Jack shots. ;-)

Yes, yes, yes and YES! :D

Yeah. The big bag I'm looking at has "World Market" in big letters with "Cost Plus" in smaller letters above it. Maybe they'll eventually switch over in the West. Of course, I'll probably be calling it Cost Plus for years after - just like when Price Club became Costco.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2003-12-07 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah - just can't imagine why anyone would name it that. But I love just walking around and looking at all the unique food stuff. I was kinda bummed that they didn't have the taro root chips I like there. Wonder if they had to clear a bunch of shelves for Christmas stuff.

Spent *way* too much there yesterday. They were having a deal where you got a $10 gift card free if you spent over $50. But that didn't include alcohol. Of course, I *had* to go for the gift card. *g* But at least I have a couple of presents out of the way.

[identity profile] lisayaeger.livejournal.com 2003-12-07 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
I bought a couple of presents there myself, and if the Ghiradelli chocolate bar with milk chocolate and caramel just happened to call out to me as I was walking to the check-out, hey! Who am I to argue?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2003-12-07 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
Never ever ever ignore talking chocolate!

[identity profile] lisayaeger.livejournal.com 2003-12-07 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
It's like an unwritten commandment.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2003-12-07 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
Absolutely!

Oh well. I was so behind on LJ I'm pretty much starting over with a clean slate.

Hope that the work is going well, even if it is keeping you busy. Also hope that you manage to find a little time to play. Definitely miss seeing you around.

I didn't see all of those things on LJ, but I certainly know what you mean about the AT photo. Why would anyone want anything different? And no, I'm really not that gutter minded. I'm just being silly.

Best wishes for the Christmas shopping. I have to start mine too.

Me too! I miss being around and reading everyone's journals!

Have no idea where exactly they came from and haven't seen any post like this myself - I was just informed. *g*

Heh heh.

Thanks. Two down...I don't know how many to go.

I'm assuming since you have the new SG-1 piccie in your layout, you have them. Feel like sending them my way? I have no idea where to find them.

Sure! Actually, I got the picture from here:

Completely-unrelated-to-post comment (though I'm glad you've got plenty to do at your new job *g*): your old livejournal layout? with the picture from 2001? could you pretty please tell me where you got it from so that I might steal borrow it for my own nefarious innocent purposes? :)

Also: I see nothin' wrong with kitchen accessories as presents. They're extremely useful and practical gifts that, in certain contexts, can be totally misconstrued. Rock on. ;)

Hmm hmm hmm. I probably snagged it from one of the usual suspects - jackfic, Thalassa, Gateworld, but I don't remember exactly. I found a rough copy on my hard drive - cropped, sized, brightened and sharpened - but not cut out and without the words. Can't imagine you'd want the words anyway. But I didn't have the original large screen cap.
