Randomness

  • Last night's 30 Rock was FUNNY. :D (Of course, you can't go wrong with Will Arnett.)

  • How strange is it that I'm pondering making a pie posted by a parrot? But I have a crust problem. I hate that Pillsbury rollout crust (blech) and I don't have a food processor. Making it by hand doesn't sound very appealing.

  • IS IT THE WEEKEND YET? No, it is not. And it's making me grumpy.

  • I pondered going to the Wild Animal Park this weekend, but...I'm not feeling that motivated. It'll be busy because of the Halloween stuff, and... Meh.

  • I think I might make a shell wreath for my office. I have a bare wall and...and BECAUSE.

How strange is it that I'm pondering making a pie posted by a parrot?

I have no idea what that means. How does the parrot figure in?

PIE!!! Nomnomnom...I think I'm tempted to bake!

That's exactly what I was going to ask. Read the sentence at least 5 times to try to figure out where I was going wrong...

Sounds delish!

Want my mother? She makes the best pastry on earth. *nods* The trade-off is you'd have to get us both down there *spots a scheme that'll get me away from Montreal weather*

Hee!

I like the Pillsbury crust, but then I am lazy and do not bake. Were I to attempt a pie crust, the results would be...disheartening, to say the least. ;)

I like the concept of the Pillsbury crust and would totally take the easy way out, but there's something about the taste of it I don't like.

You could try using puff pastry instead of pie crust. Much more flaky and delish.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-10-24 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Can you bake that like a regular pie then?

[identity profile] frenchroast.livejournal.com 2009-10-24 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I pre-bake it a little, then poke holes in the bottom. It's sometimes a little more difficult to work with, but it's always tasty. The filling usually keeps it from expanding tons and tons like it normally would. If you need a top for your pie, however, puff pastry doesn't work so well.

There's a really good pie crust recipe here, but it calls for a food processor. I think you could get by with a blender, or maybe an egg beater, it would just take a little more time.

I'm going to have to try that sometime. Thanks!
