Spooks

IT'S BACK!!!! \o/ I really do love this show. :D
    Show: Say hello to RUTH!

Me: OMG RUTH! Actually, I was spoiled for you, but still! RUTH!!!!

Show: And oh, by the way, she's married to an impossibly gorgeous man now.

Me: DAMN, HE'S HOT. But maybe he can get killed by the bad guys so Ruth can be with Harry? That'd be swell.

Show: [KILLS RUTH'S HUSBAND WHILE SHE WATCHES]

Me: I am a bad, bad person.
I still love Ros quite a lot. (A couple of weeks ago I saw a couple of episodes of Wire in the Blood, and the actress was in that too. Also being awesome.) But Ros still can kick anyone's ass 50 times over and I...might even like her more than Harry. I'm not sure.

Lucas remains very hot, and maybe will go the way of Tom by hooking up with the CIA agent? (Who had such a horrible American accent I couldn't understand her at times.)

I'm kind of surprised Harry's kidnapping was resolved in one episode. I had mentally predicted that he'd be missing for several episodes before they were able to get him back. But where would things be without Harry?

I'm so glad Malcolm didn't get killed. I'm sad he decided to retire, but that is the best possible way to leave MI-5. Plus he got to save Ruth's stepson in the process. *pats Malcolm* If only his buddy had lived - they could get a cabin somewhere and play chess for the rest of their lives. Awwwww. At first I was thinking that we'd be seeing a new person to replace Malcom, but then had a "duh" moment of realizing Ruth was back.

Poor Ruth. She's going to be so traumatized and hate Harry for quite a while now. I imagine it'll take a bit to get her to come back.

But AWWW! Harry asking Ruth if she loved her husband and her avoiding the question. *PETS THEM BOTH* I'm happy Ruth's back. I'm probably not the type of Harry/Ruth shipper where I want them to skip off into the sunset, I just think the actors and characters play off each other incredibly well. It's one of the more interesting relationships on the show. And it's also very sweet in its way.

I do not UNDERSTAND why they cannot find someone who can do a decent American accent. That was the strangest thing I've ever heard, coming out of her mouth. This is why the David Tennant news fills me with trepidation. It would make me sad if he was awful at it.

Oh wait, plot? Yes, I've missed Ruth. I don't exactly ship her and Harry, but I like it. If that makes sense. I like what it does for the characters. And I really love Harry for not folding, ever. Ros is so meant to be his eventual successor. It is also about time that someone got out of the spying business intact(*hugs Malcolm*). You have to go back until, what, season three? For it not to end in maiming or death.

ETA: The only thing that I cannot stand about Spooks on occasion is the OTT absurd caricaturing of Americans. Sitting on the porch, waiting for Jesus? Seriously, guys? Unless they're trying to be funny...

*nods* It was completely distracting for me. Every time she talked I was paying more attention to her talking than anything else. I think that might be the worst American accent I've heard on this show. Others have been okay or even good.

Yes, I completely understand. I think that's how I am as well.

I'm wondering if Harry's going to retire at the end of this season. It feels like they're setting that up.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure what's up with that. Maybe it's payback for Hollywood making so many bad guys British?

Like you, I kind of get the feeling that Harry might retire soon. On the other hand, for all that Ros *could* believably be his replacement, it feels like the show should end once Harry leaves. He's the only one left, after eight seasons, after all.

Yeah, it really would be a good time to end things. It's really been all about Harry's gang the whole time. He's this huge force that I'm not sure they should even try replacing on the show.

OMG, MICHELLE, MALCOLM HAD ME BAWLING! Because I was so convinced he was going to be murdered, but then he wasn't! But then he RETIRED! WAH. And he left the building without saying good-bye to anyone! WAH WAH.

At first I was thinking that we'd be seeing a new person to replace Malcom, but then had a "duh" moment of realizing Ruth was back.

Is she? I knew Ruth was coming back for 1 ep, but has she permanently returned? Because I got then sense that she really, really doesn't want anything to do with MI5 any more. Yes, she's good at her job, but the price is just too high.

I ADORE Ros. I think it took a while for her character to become truly awesome. But she's totally there now and I'm choosing to erase everything from S6 from my mind. ;)

I KNOW! I didn't cry, only because I was so relieved he wasn't dead. :D

I have no idea if she's really back or not, but just from some of the things that were said like "she is home," I'm thinking she'll be around. Not without a buttload of angst, of course.

That's wise to do in any case. XD

But yeah. It took me a while to like Ros, but now... \o/

Oh Spooks. I've missed it. I was spoiled for Ruth being back, but it was still awesome that she was! I felt bad about her hot husband though, since he was hot and I'm shallow.

I loved the comment that Harry made to the bad guy about how his relationship with Ruth was beyond his "vulgar little mind" or something like that...

The American accents were brutal - both the girl (Christine? or was that the original CIA girl's name...) and the American Bad Guy. If you're not a main character on this show, I can't remember your name...

Ros is AWESOME. I was excited when she joined the show because I loved her on Wire in the Blood, but my love for Ros has far surpassed my love for Carol. Although typing that made me feel guilty... (interesting fact - when Ruth first started on Spooks I was excited because I knew her from Touching Evil, which starred Robson Green, who moved on to Wire in the Blood - British actor bingo!)

I am so, so, so happy that Malcolm didn't die. I thought for sure that he was a goner... love that Spooks can still pull off the surprises.

I've watched the second episode now, and I still can't remember her name. Sarah?

It's always fun to spot the British actors. I watched an episode of Wire in the Blood last night and spotted someone who guest starred in Torchwood. :D

Yeah, you really never know what's going to happen. No one is safe.
