It's really hard to work when a celeb gets engaged. Because I want to sit there and read things like ONTD and other places. The funniest bit has been the posts where people are convinced - convinced - that this SPN person is actually gay (or at least bi) and that him getting engaged to a woman (of all things) is a PR cover. Defend-it-argumentatively-in-comments convinced.

See, I think this is where a lot of my problem comes in with RPF. Sure there are some people who handle it just fine, but there are others where there is no line between fiction and reality. It's all reality for them.

And on that same note, David Tennant will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever date you. Ever. Never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever. Not even if you meet him at a book signing. Or a con. Never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever. Seriously. I am not kidding. So no falling off the deep end if he gets engaged to GM, m'kay?

Anyhoo, I just got my apple slicer in the mail today! PIE! It looks like it'll be cooler this weekend, so a good time for baking. I'm thinking a dutch apple pie. And then take it in to work: "BEHOLD. PIE."

Wait, who got engaged? I'm perversely fascinated by SPN fandom, even though I've never even seen 30 seconds of that show. It's like the one fandom I can point to and say, "See? Crazier than Who fans."

DT and Georgia getting hitched would make me glee, I'll admit. I even feel kind of weird and inappropriate about gleeing, because I don't know them and who glees about the nuptials of people they don't know? But I do find them sort of adorable.

I don't care a lot about David Tennant's personal life, but I vaguely think it would be nice for him if he got married. Mostly from my personal bias that being married is pleasant. I really don't understand people not wanting him to be attached to anyone, or thinking he should date Billie Piper, or imagining that as long as he's single they have a snowball's chance in hell of someday sleeping with him. It's just... weird.

I am pretty apathetic toward celebrities in general; okay, I made a (big) exception for Comic-Con this year, but that was all wrapped up in a big sentimental thing about Ten being my favorite Doctor, about to leave, and Tennant coming right here to talk about it.

I'm right there with you. I've run into a few celebs, been formally introduced to Lily Tomlin (who is SO WEE), but I usually find the whole thing really awkward. I tend to avoid celeb-related fanning.

And I really don't understand getting emotionally invested in an actor's personal life either.

And I agree that RPF is partially to blame for this sort of thing, especially for the Jared/Jensen fans. But believing that a celeb will jump you as soon as he drops his girlfriend no doubt goes back to Sumeria or something. (IF I CAN JUST FIND A WAY TO KILL OFF THAT SLUT ENKIDU, GILGAMESH WILL TOTALLY MARRY ME OMG!!1!!!)

See, in the nicest possible way, I couldn't care less what the actual actors do. I enjoy the people they portray, and that's about it, although connecting dots in British tv can be fun. I was amused in passing to learn that Rose was married to Sergeant Hathaway from Lewis, but usually it's more of a X was in Y show with Z type of game.

See, RPF, as in fic, can be fun. It's bringing it over into reality that makes no sense to me. Write fic where two people who aren't together get together? Sure, why not? Bring fannish rules into real life interactions, though -- like "OMG, A touched B's arm in that interview, THEY ARE SO IN LOVE" -- um, no? Real life is not a scripted TV show. The same rules just don't apply.

Do none of these people have close friends? People they love but feel absolutely no attraction towards? Do they think actors/famous people can't have that kind of friendship? Nooo, surely if they're that close it's romantic/physical. Right. Sigh.
