Countdown to Christmas: 6

The Doctor and Rose have always been two nutjobs peas in a pod when it comes to adventure, and laughing at things that other people wouldn't laugh at. :D

Doctor: Yes, I am THE AWESOME, but you can call me "Doctor."

Rose: *gets poetic about it*

Doctor: <3 <3 <3

Doctor: HOLY CRAP, I MIGHT NOT BE ASEXUAL.

Rose: Asexual what now?

Doctor: Neveryoumind, missy. *does not immediately reserve a huge chunk of his brain for thinking about Rose*

Look at that excitement of a new adventure! On both their faces! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY SHOW?? *ahem*

I love how much the Doctor gets enjoyment from Rose's experiences.

Embarrassed!Doctor is pretty funny. :D

Having an entire conversation with zombies while using Rose's waist as an armrest? OH NINE, YOU SMOOTH DOG, YOU. :D

Zombies: *faint at the cute*
Rose: ...
Doctor: Bugger. We're going to have to move now, aren't we?

The Doctor really does see hearts and ponies circling around Rose when he looks at her, doesn't he? :D

Doctor: I AM GOD OF ALL PUNS!
Rose: *facepalm*

A squabble. They had several of these in the beginning. Personally I think they disappeared not because Rose became a doormat (popular fannish theory) but because the fights happened when they were still getting to know each other. There's a big long meta in here, and probably one I've already done.

HAND HOLDING! \o/

"So glad I met you." *PETS THEM*

Nothing like squishing around the monitor to see Dickens off! Well, one of them was watching Dickens at least. :D

XD Does Nine do much other than glee at Rose in this episode?

And given that the two of them were still disagreeing over stuff in Fear Her (in the lead up to "it's easy for you to say, you don't have kids") the Rose-is-a-doormat theory is just plain BS.

He does take time out to glee at Dickens, but other than that... :D

*nods*

I started to say more, but it seriously could turn into a giant meta, and I'm feeling lazy.

Another one of my favorites! “Father’s Day” and “The Parting of the Ways” are my favorite episodes of Doctor Who. In fact, they’re two of my favorite episodes of television, period. But when I think about the episodes that made me fall in love with the series—the ones that are Doctor Who to me—“Rose,” “The End of the World,” and “The Unquiet Dead” are always the ones that come to mind.

Rose: *gets poetic about it*

I love that she got to be just as poetic, here, as the Doctor was in his “turn of the earth” speech. They really were equals, at least as far as the writers were concerned.

(And I’ll never understand the fans who think Rose came along because she fancied the Doctor. Did they sleep through this scene?)

Personally I think they disappeared not because Rose became a doormat (popular fannish theory) but because the fights happened when they were still getting to know each other.

I don’t think they disappeared at all. I know I see more friction between Rose and the Doctor in season two than you do, but I think they had their second biggest fight of the series in “School Reunion.”

(But I’ll admit that Rose was more concerned about Jack’s absence in my personal canon than she seemed to be in RTD’s.)

So. Cute.

Yeah, they both really got what made it all special.

(And I’ll never understand the fans who think Rose came along because she fancied the Doctor. Did they sleep through this scene?)

And sleep through the scenes where Rose kept dragging guys onto the TARDIS with them?

I'd forgotten about School Reunion, but yeah. Definite friction going on there.

(But I’ll admit that Rose was more concerned about Jack’s absence in my personal canon than she seemed to be in RTD’s.)

Interesting! I never thought about it that way. (Or if I have, it's been a while since I've thought about it.)

Interesting! I never thought about it that way.

I think that’s why you and I see season two so differently. (It’s also why I go AU after “The Parting of the Ways.”)

BWAH. YES! I saw a fanart once (with Ten instead of Nine, BUT STILL RELEVANT) that illustrated the Doctor's mind through labelled file cabinets or something and like half of them were Rose related. It was super cute. :D

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
AWWWW! I want to see that!

aw, I do love this ep. Nine is so infatuated, it's really adorable.

"Having an entire conversation with zombies while using Rose's waist as an armrest? OH NINE, YOU SMOOTH DOG, YOU. :D"

Mind, Rose was having a fit accusing Mr. Sneed of copping a feel and she didn't mind that hand staying quite 'higher' than her waist longer than necessary. hee!

GOOD POINT!! :D Never connected the dots on that one before!

It IS an impressive cleavage after all, they should have made Rose wear pretty dresses more to torture the Doctor's "asexuality" s'more xDD

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
He probably would have had complete meltdown. :D

[identity profile] teruel-a-witch.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, he certainly had something akin to it in New Earth, it was very wise of Cassandra to wave Rose's cleavage at him, it took him way longer than usual to figure her out xD

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
TOTALLY. :D
