Torchwood in the U.S.

It says if Fox wants the pilot, JB "might" star. Heh. Come on. It's JB. Of course he'll star. He can't help himself. :D Anyway, I guess this is the S4 that RTD's been working on?

The article also mentions that Jane Tranter might try to reboot Doctor Who in the U.S. *facepalm* Hasn't this already been tried? This and this were the results. I could maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe MAYBE see something working if it involved TenII and Rose, but not a whole new Doctor. (And given DT and BP's schedules, it's not bloody likely for a TenII and Rose thing since it'd be a full-time gig.)

So to sum up: Torchwood U.S.? I could see it working. (Although it'd be on Fox, which means it won't work even if it works.) Doctor Who U.S.? HA. No.

Hopefully the Gay Agenda wouldn't go. We've not really had any shows like this here that have been like that. Also, if Captain Jack is involved, I don't see how they'd be able to get around that. (And hopefully Alonzo will come with.)

As much as I like the idea of Torchwood US, I'm wondering why they don't just do a show about UNIT. They're similar organizations in DW universe, and this way they wouldn't be messing with "official" canon. Plus then there would be legitimate reasons for having American actors. It's not like new Who has seen much of UNIT, so there wouldn't really be any ties to the Doctor.

On the other hand, I really like the idea of Torchwood US filming in, like, Cleveland. It just needs to be a city that no one in America ever thinks about, and ever films shows there. Portland? Omaha?

I have the feeling it's because as a whole, UNIT really isn't all that interesting on the sci-fi front. They only get involved with aliens when it falls into their laps, as opposed to Torchwood seeking it out.

And it really should be some tiny town that Torchwood could turn up with with their flashy SUV. :D
