TV

I have to admit this episode didn't do a lot to hold my interest. I wound up playing on the computer and making tapioca pudding while watching it. :D That said, I thought the woman guest star was all right. I know she's the scourge of the Smallville fandom (I don't watch the show), but she didn't inspire any hate from me in this ep.

The only thing that makes me eyeroll about her is that we know exactly what's coming: she'll be Chuck's love interest for a few eps, and then she'll swan off. WE'VE SEEN THIS BEFORE. I think the TPTB need a time out for continuing to attempt to write romance (of any kind) since they fail so badly at it.

Shaw...doesn't bug me, but I still have no idea why they've added him. This is turning into a very strange season.

I must not have been in a TV mood last night (or I was too interested in my tapioca pudding or something) since this show kind of bored me as well. 24's big problem in having 24 episodes in a season, is that sometimes a lot of padding goes on. The actual action of this episode probably could have taken up 5 minutes and the rest was driving around or having conversations like "when will he/she get here?" 24 really is a show that works better when you can marathon it.

Still tired of the Dana Walsh storyline. It really is just filler.

Apparently it really helps to make the episodes more interesting when you're only paying attention to the Jack/Renee bits ;)

XD

[identity profile] janetmaca.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I was worried because of the Smallville bad mojo (and she was on this horrible, I mean abso-effing-lutely horrendous teen soap in Canada. Think Degrassi but - 1 gajillion points for acting and storylines. It was that bad) but I liked her, and she (like Lou) seemed to not just be there for sex appeal. Why couldn't KK join the cast full-time? I mean it's lacking a bit since what's-her-name left!
Besides everyone knows Chuck and Casey should end up together

Besides everyone knows Chuck and Casey should end up together

Now you went and put that in my head and it makes me think of The Odd Couple. Wonder if I have enough footage to do that one...

[identity profile] janetmaca.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd love to see something like that. :D

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
As a preview of what's "likely" to come, check out my previous work at Pearvert's YouTube channel and you'll see how my mind works...

[identity profile] janetmaca.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahh! These are awesome. :D

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
It's my one great talent. :D

And you have one of my favorite Castle moments as an icon! I put that in the Castle vid...

[identity profile] janetmaca.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
You should be proud. :D

It's the moment that had me going "I *have* to give Castle a try"

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
As much as I loved him in Firefly I think he's a much better comedic actor. I'm trying to think of other combinations I can use with Castle...

[identity profile] janetmaca.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Well if I can think of anything to use in combo with Castle, I'll pop by with the suggestion. It's harder than it looks.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, she seemed a decent character and I was expecting annoyingness, just because of Smallville fandom.

Besides everyone knows Chuck and Casey should end up together

BWAH!

[identity profile] janetmaca.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, she seemed a decent character and I was expecting annoyingness, just because of Smallville fandom. Isn't it nice to be pleasantly surprised?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It is!

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2010-01-27 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, she seemed a decent character and I was expecting annoyingness, just because of Smallville fandom.

As it turns out, I discovered in later seasons of Smallville that it's mostly not Kristin Kreuk's fault but what was being written for her. I liked her much better later on. So it doesn't surprise me that she did well on Chuck.

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll admit I don't watch it for Chuck, Chuck's love interest, Sarah (thought she does look good in lingerie), or the BuyMore gang.

I watch it for Adam Baldwin and his insane personality. If not for him, I wouldn't be watching anything at 8 on Mondays.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
He does make the whole thing much more entertaining. :D

[identity profile] greenpear.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
For me he makes 80% of it.

And thanx to [livejournal.com profile] janetmaca's idea watch out for Chuck and Casey: The Odd Couple...

Yes! Exactly! Even the 2 hour blocks are better than a single hour at a time.

As for Chuck, I don't like Shaw. I don't think the character was really needed for the show and I have this (bad) thought that he's going to be a turncoat because the lady the ring belongs to is alive and being held hostage or something crazy like that. Admittedly though, I did like Casey in last night's episode.

Yeah, I get the feeling Shaw will turn on them too, because otherwise why is he around? I don't get it.

I thought he was going to be a love interest for Sarah, but I could be mistaken (and hopefully am). Cause I heard they were both getting new love interests this season (wow, really looking forward to that).

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It doesn't seem like he'd be a love interest for Sarah, but knowing these writers, he probably is.

The worst things about 24 are as follows:
- "development" episodes, which set up more things later.
- the little clock that appears at the bottom of the screen letting you know the hour is ending but there won't be another episode for another week!

Last night was rather slow, though you can kind of understand why given how much was in the first four hours. The next couple are usually a lot more developmental, but there really was a heck of a lot of just driving around this episode. It was a bit daft if you ask me, even if it could be considered more realistic.

And the more I learn about Dana Walsh, the less believable I find it. I mean, she's an ex-con, changed her name, and yet still got a Top Secret security clearance from CTU? Apparently the federal background check is for s**t, if they missed something that significant.

24 really is a show that works better when you can marathon it.

Absolutely!

You're probably right. We'll probably have more of this for a bit.

I know, right? This is what CTU does.

[identity profile] chiroho.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
You're probably right. We'll probably have more of this for a bit.

Since they started doing this whole 4 hour block to start the season, it's seemed like hours 5 and 6 are usually slow, sometimes even 7, but then it starts building again. It's just one of those things I suppose.

I know, right? This is what CTU does.

Exactly!

That's EXACTLY what I thought! Just... stop. Please. :D

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It really is the weakest point of the show.

[identity profile] sunnytyler001.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
About Kristin Kreuk on Smallville: it wasn't the actress I didn't like on Smallville (well, she was quite young and without experience when the show started so she actually learn actuing while doing it), it was more her character, Lana: perfection is booorrriinnngg. ;D

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
That makes sense since the actress didn't strike me as being bad or anything.

[identity profile] sunnytyler001.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
She was in Smallville. And then, she was always compared to Allison Mack (Chloe) who has been playing (small parts on films, tv shows, ...) since she was a kid and keeps on taking acting classes and getting better and better... while KK's acting now is just OK...
(Also, Chloe's character is made of win. I should have given up on Smallville years ago, but I keep on watching because of her.)

[identity profile] maypanic.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Chuck- The episode was a bit meh, but there were some quality Casey grunts. Someday I'm going to publish a study of The Many Grunts and Growls of John Casey.

His script must be fascinating.

CASEY: Grunts inquisitively. Lifts eyebrow, growls menacingly.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
BWAH!

You know, I'd read a study like that. :D

[identity profile] arabian.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I agree. I think the problem with Chuck is that we like the group of Chuck, Sarah and Casey, and that was pretty much missing. Ditto on Kristen Kreuk, I was expecting to be annoyed with her because of all the hate on the webz for her, but I thought she was kinda cute. I'm okay with her being a love interest because they're obviously not doing Chuck/Sarah now, and at least I like her. I do agree about Shaw though, I like Brandon Routh, but WHY is he here?

As for 24, I think it was a combo of building up the plot and for me, I'm sorry, I don't like Renee/Annie Wersching and it bugs me that since her appearance, this is essentially becoming HER story, HER struggle, blah, blah and everything else seems like a side story to her angst. Sorry, do not care, and subsequently DNW. What I did want? Is for Vlad to shoot her ass. Alas ....

The Dana story is dragging, but they keep saying something cool comes out of this/not is all it seems, and there are always a few episodes where they are setting things in play so I'm willing to be patient. I just love Katee Sackhoff so much, that's easy for me.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! I'm missing Chuck, Sarah and Casey doing what they do!

And I'm kind of with you, although I don't dislike her, really. But I kind of don't care about her storyline.

And I hadn't heard that about the Dana storyline. I'll try to be patient.
