  • If 30 Rock doesn't say something about NBC's utter fail during the Olympics (stopping airing the Closing to spam people with Jerry Seinfeld's new show?), I will be disappointed. You just know a Jack Donaghy came up with the scheduling.

  • I finally watched SyFy's Alice last night. Overall I thought it was...okay. Don't feel I wasted my life watching it, but at the same time I don't think I need to watch it again.

  • Have I mentioned I'm on a 24 hiatus? I just couldn't take nothing happening week after week anymore. I might watch it once a month or something, marathonning several in a row.

  • Also, both How I Met Your Mother and Chuck are off my lists now. So basically I cleared my entire Monday night TV schedule. Go me? :D

  • I might have to try Legend of the Seeker since [livejournal.com profile] goldy_dollar won't stop talking about it. Is it any good?

Legend of the Seeker is pretty much popcorn tv for me, I just turn my brain off and watch for the pretty.

Although I am enjoying it more this season thanks to more focus on a certain thing that did peak my interest last season (vague so as not to spoil).

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
I could handle a popcorn show. :D

[identity profile] goodtoast.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
I've even been a little disappointed the Olympics haven't been mentioned yet on 30 Rock. There's no way Kenneth didn't (er, wouldn't?) beg Brian Williams to take him to Vancouver so that he couldn't faun over, I dunno, the chubby US male curler. NBC's utter excitement over the last two years (and then complete fail) makes for great comedy fodder, and it must be used! Tina! Get on it!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
I know! They did something for the Beijing Olympics! Time to do something for this!

Legend of the Seeker is actually really bad, but in the good way. Super cheesy, uber campy, lots of sword fighting, pretty stars, etc. I haven't got around to season two yet, as I prefer to just watch them all on one weekend. But it's fun.

[identity profile] beck-liz.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
*points* What she said. If you like the Merlin series, or liked Hercules the Legendary Journeys and/or Xena back in the day, you'll probably enjoy this. Totally cheesetastic, but in a good way!

:D I might like it, although ultra-cheesy shows can be a toss-up with me. But I guess I stuck with Robin Hood for nearly 2 seasons, so...

[identity profile] janetmaca.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Um, it's pretty much up there with Doctor Who for tough kick-ass female characters which is so, so nice and exciting.

And if it annoys you for some reason, which is possible (it's not exactly the best show on earth, after all) just think:

Seriously, what was with that closing ceremony coverage? My Canadian friends were talking last night about all these music performances that I didn't even realize I had missed!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
NBC was being their usual FAIL selves. BAH.

[identity profile] taibhrigh.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
I have to watch Lost and 24 in batches of 2 or 3 episode.

What happened in the last 5 minutes of Alice? My DVR cut off.

Legend of the Seeker is actually a rather enjoyably corny show, and you can watch them on demand on NetFlix, so no need to even bother with the disks - if you want to try it out.

The scenery is gorgeous as it's filmed in NZ, some of the actors are American, but most are Australian or Kiwi (someone I work with is watching for the bit part actors to keep rotating around in the various roles), and it is kinda cringeworthy at times, but is enjoyable brain-off TV with lots of pretty. :)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Netflix! Thanks!! *adds to lineup*

I'll have to be sure I'm in the mood for a brain-switching-off show.

[identity profile] rattus-aerius.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
So they're digging up the old has-beens to try to save the network now?

NBC. Nothing But Crap.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
And it's not even a scripted show! It's some reality show. Yes, that's what they stopped airing the Olympics for.

[identity profile] outforawalk.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
I've watched a couple of episodes of Legend of the Seeker, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] goldy_dollar's pimping. It's fun and light-hearted silliness, which is exactly what I want some days.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Some days you just want to switch off the brain, don't you?

I watched Hiccups and Dan For Mayor on CTV tonight, and laughed a lot during both of them. The end of Dan For Mayor actually made me sit up in my seat, gasp, and guffaw. Yes, it was THAT funny.

Edited because I just realized I completely fail. You're not Canadian. So whut? I got you and [livejournal.com profile] goldy_dollar momentarily confused. You mean you're not interchangeable?

I remember when Wednesday was an all night TV time. Now it's a vast wasteland. :(

I'm really disappointed with NBC's coverage of the Olympics. And those annoying pop ups on the bottom of the screen, "Lindsey Vonn in 6 minutes" were the worst. Let's take up a third of the screen to tell us what you're going to screw-up next...

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
For me most TV is a vast wasteland these days.

At least that was one thing I missed with my boycott - those popups.

[identity profile] maypanic.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
You broke up with Chuck? Awww.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I got too sick of them attempting to write relationships, or not, as the case may be.

[identity profile] erateini.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
I think I've decided to hit the eye candy on Legend of the Seeker. There are worse things out there after all, I don't think I need to point them out... *stares at NBC*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
HEH! So true. :D

[identity profile] slaygirl4303.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, why the break up with HIMYM and Chuck? And ditto what everyone said about Legend of the Seeker. If you watch it I dare you to not fall in love with Kahlans hair of power!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
HIMYM - it kind of was a combination of two things: 1) the Barney/Robin breakup which was all kinds of WTF-ery. Not that I couldn't imagine them breaking up, it was just so badly written. And 2) an interview with the writer about the breakup. Basically they panicked and hit the reset button. It would have been better to not get Barney and Robin together at all since before I liked the Barn-Man, but now I think he's pathetic.

Chuck - I got tired of their UST-writing shenanigans. They've set up this thing between Chuck and Sarah, but then keep them apart by the most ridiculous things. Their favorite is to throw other people at Chuck and/or Sarah. And they just did it again. I threw up my hands and walked.

Honestly, I wish they would lay off the relationship/romantic parts of Chuck. I didn't start watching for a romance, and also they write that part of it so very badly.

[identity profile] suzvoy.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
Legend of the Seeker is AWESOME. The female characters are amazing (I love what they're doing in season two now, heeeee) - actually, all the characters are amazing :D Plus, a forbidden OTP who don't angst and strop all the time about not being able to 'be together' *nudge nudge*. They're very grown up about it and love each other madly <3

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Nice to hear that they don't fall into that predictable UST trap. Nothing will turn me off like ridiculous angsty UST. (See Chuck.)

[identity profile] sleepy-orange.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
You're not going to watch it again? Not even for the pretty adorableness that is Andrew-Lee Potts as Hatter? XD

He was okay. :D

My boyfriend and I really like Legend of the Seeker, but if you read the Sword of Truth books (which its based on) I hear you may rage. You know, OMG they changed they story, how dare they, etc.
