Finished The Half Blood Prince. Overall it was the dullest book for me. (Although I did laugh out loud one or two times. Luna moments, I think.)
Harry was obsessed with Draco; I don't care about Draco. There was backstory about Tom Riddle; I didn't find it overly interesting. There was lots of relationship dwama; I was only entertained for so long, amused at how stuff related to ship wars, but after a bit I didn't really care much.
And...there really wasn't a whole lot else to the book. :D

Wait until DH, there's chapter upon chapter of absolutely nothing.

So much this. Did you ever enjoy camping before? You won't after DH.

And I like DH as well, and don't really mind the camping at all.

Anyway, I enjoyed it quite a bit, and I also kind of loved the movie, even though the Half Blood Prince part was kind of, uh, removed. Mostly I loved Draco in the film, which for me was intense because it was the first and only time I really connected to what his problems were. I just...loved the scene where he and the Death Eaters stalked out of Hogwarts, and looked like he belonged.

But I also kind of love it for the complete and total fandom meltdown that it inspired. Some of the most epic shipping wank I have ever witnessed.

May I recommend some hard cider for DH? Cause those camping scenes...man you are gonna need it.

It was the first book I read after being in fandom and I like... dressed up and went out with my friends and read it in one night.
And then spent the next week being really angry and butthurt and crying over the word "delusional."

DH actually reminded me a lot of what it is that made me love the series, so I am rather fond of it.

Totally! I think they had more together time than all the other books combined!
The backstory was a bit of a letdown, though. Tom Riddle was always evil? Really? He crossed the Moral Event Horizon before his twelfth birthday? When I find myself thinking things like, “At least Anakin Skywalker had a character arc,” I know there’s a problem.
Yeah, it gave us new details, but nothing huge (apart from the Horcruxes.)

Well, my two favorite characters in the Harry Potter series have always been Harry and Dumbledore, so “Dumbledore gives Harry private lessons” probably would’ve been enough to make me love Half-Blood Prince all by itself.
Plus, the scene with the Trio after Dumbledore’s funeral…
I think that’s still my favorite scene in the series.

Of course, I've only read each book once, so my opinion on that is all based off a far distant memory!
And yeah - I'm gonna echo everyone else and tell you to brace yourself for the camping in Book 7. It's, uh...impressive... yeah, lets go with that.

And so far I'm enjoying 7. Haven't gotten to any camping yet though... XD

And that's totally not what I was hoping they would do for the final movie. Nope. Not at all.
