Scrubs quote
One of my latest obsessions is Scrubs - I really dig great comedy writing. Anyhoo, I love this little monologue that's a great blend of comedy and drama and so I'm gonna spam you with it.
- Relationships don't work they way they do on television and in the movies. Will they? Won't they? And then they finally do, and they're happy forever. Gimme a break. Nine out of ten of them end because they weren't right for each other to begin with, and half of the ones who get married get divorced anyway, and I'm telling you right now, through all this stuff I have not become a cynic. I haven't. Yes, I do happen to believe that love is mainly about pushing chocolate covered candies and, y'know, in some cultures, a chicken. You can call me a sucker, I don't care, because I do believe in it. Bottom line: it's couples who are truly right for each other wade through the same crap as everybody else, but the big difference is they don't let it take them down. One of those two people will stand up and fight for that relationship every time.

I've been resisting watching this show for years. *frowns at Michelle* I may have to cave, though. I don't suppose there are DVDs that I can rent, are there?

Yup! It rings so true!

Oh, you have to at least try a few episodes! The humor - so damn funny! And yet there's this undercurrent of reality that sneaks up on you every once in a while. Like one of the young interns being comforted by an older woman who has decided to die.

The 1st season just came out in May! (Which I bought and LOVED.)

It just made me cry - for all my fucked up relationships and for everything I think about love and it's all so fucking right - it's painful to watch.
LOVE Scrubs.

Yes! I loved that episode so much - how they put together two main characters and then tore them apart. The backwards storytelling was really painful, especially at the end/beginning when they're at the start and think they'll be together forever. But stuff like that is what gives it its honesty.
LOVE Scrubs.
SO GOOD!! Now I need to find some Scrubs icons. Or make some myself.

It just *breaks* my heart. It hit home just a bit too hard.
There's an audio-commentary to that one on the DVD and they mentioned that the pizza JD and Elliot eat represents a clock to show the passage of time. Clever. Also the episode went overtime and they just couldn't bear to cut it so it hardly ever shows up when they play it in syndication. Wow. That's sad.

:(
Yeah, I'd bet a lot of people could relate. I know I can.

Very cool! I haven't gotten to the audio commentary yet. Long story short, I have a group of friends who watch TV one night a week at one person's house. Sadly, my Scrubs DVDs are over there.

Older woman has just told JD that she's refusing treatment and she wants to die. DJ is sitting in a chair and a delivery man comes into the room and hands JD a clipboard.
"Sign here please."
JD signs, hands the clipboard back, and a ton of bricks fall down on him. .
Hahahahaha!!
