So they finally called in the Ghostbusters, who are now apparently working for the Big Bad Drug Company. (Needs must.) Winston calls some guy in China to investigate something mysterious that is totally in China near the lanterns. So guy in China sees the mysterious something (but refuses to show the audience) and decides to "kill" himself by jumping off a 45 story building. Really, the first 5 minutes of this episode were about as clear as Cyberwoman.
This was an episode that showed off all the middlemen - all the people who just follow orders. Also that the heroes and villains aren't always so easily defined. Out of all the speechifying going on, Gwen's was the best.
But Jack does take time out to flirt with a random maitre d. I like to think that the Time Agency has a site called LOLJACK, filled with moments like these.
Esther channels her ability to kick ass! (Well, technically kick stomach and then strangle a guy.) He's the bastard that killed Dr. Vera, so he totally deserves the wrath of Esther.
The evil Vera-killing bastard (after rising from the dead) is eventually taken down by the not-so-random guard whose line made me laugh out loud. "This has GOT to stop!" Just the way he said it made me imagine hordes of fans going after RTD and his ever-flowing angst.
Okay, I have SERIOUSLY no idea where Gwen got the motorcycle or why there was a cache of C-4 at the medical base, BUT IT'S STILL AWESOME.
And then everything changes after the all-powerful bad guys kidnap Gwen's family. Sorry, Jack. You're so getting traded in.
Since the Big Bad wants Jack, it's probably not a stretch to think that it's because of something Jack's done in the past. Probably something that's on LOLJACK.

Right now I am like "lol Gwen just give them Jack, no1curr".
Poor bb Esther. I was glad her self-defense overruled that creepy douchebag and glad that Random Guard saved her lololol.
Also what did Gwen actually blow up? I was very confused by this.

XD I know, right? Poor Jack.

Yeah, for a minute I was worried we were going to lose Esther too!

I think the facility that powers the furnaces?

Spanish Inquisitionrandom guard ... who was once, a very long time ago, "Chip" on Kate and Allie. I CAN'T UNSEE CHIP.LOL the "Chinese" alleyway ... In addition to the "hyper-realistic" set, all I could think was, DUDE, YOU HAVE SOMETHING ON YOUR BACK.

I'm still looking forward to hearing someone make the obligatory "Man - greatest villain of them all" speech courtesy of Rusty at the end of it all.
Speaking of villains, I've just realised that this episode was so busy with overflow camps that it forgot to mention Oswald Danes even once. Odd, since they focused so much on him before.
NGL, I thought Gwen blew up the modules at first and was like, "... how is that in any way better than turning the BURN knob on the people who are already there. D: D:" Thank you for providing a more acceptable power facility alternative and letting me unsee.
Esther kicking ass was awesome. Also, Gwen does excellent speeches about shame, although the one involving the Doctor in CotW is still my favourite.
I think Jack will turn himself in before she manages to finish the sentence "They have my family", lol. Tbh, I think the orchestrators of the whole thing could have saved themselves some breath because he would have come in for a chat even without the dramatic multiple kidnappings of evil. Mostly, to a) learn the truth/find a way for others to learn it and b) die. In that order.

That...will probably happen. :D

HOPEFULLY that's what happened! :D

I still think he automatically lets all of Jack's calls go to voice mail.

I totally agree. If they've been paying attention, they should know that.

I bet no one ever gets to actually leave a message on that voice mail b/c somewhere in the middle of asking the caller to leave one, The Doctor randomly starts rambling about extrapolators, the flying hamsters he made friends with on this planet he visited once and bananas. In fact, I believe their patience grows thin before the bananas come up.
I still think he automatically lets all of Jack's calls go to voice mail.
Silly monsters! They don't know Jack's manpain.

Ha! And how easily am I sidetracked by distracting explosions and big pretty colours, that I totally DID think it was the modules and was like "OMG THIS KICKS SO MUCH ASS"? People? What people? Gwen is awesome!!! :) Your theory makes a whole lot more sense though.
