Man, I am in a HULK SMASH mood. Maybe I'll go kick some flowers. They have it coming.
Haven't watched the last 2 eps of Torchwood yet. This past week has been completely insane (the power outage wasn't even the worst of it) and I haven't found the energy to watch it yet.
I'm finding myself even more irked by a pairing. It started as indifference, but I'm quickly moving to wanting it removed from existence. Most likely partly from my HULK SMASH mood.
Work craptasticness. Only one day off this week. HULK SMASH.
Have to cancel lunch with a friend this week. To much happening at work.

It's mostly last week that was the crappy one, although it's continued onwards.

And the pairing is Mycroft/Lestrade (or Mystrade.) Apparently it's a fandom favorite even though they've never shared a second of screen time and seriously there's a better chance of Ten/Martha than Mystrade. At least Ten/Martha makes SENSE. But...you know, whatever people want to ship is fine. The problem is that people like to shoehorn Mystrade into perfectly good Sherlock/John fics, dammit! It's like happily reading a Doctor/Rose fic and all of a sudden there's Amy/Mickey. AND IT HAPPENS A LOT. I'm becoming thoroughly irked.

And the pairing is Mycroft/Lestrade This!

I just cannot wrap my head around it all. Never mind the fact that I find Lestrade GORGEOUS and Mycroft not so much, I know that these things aren't meant to be based on looks, but I just don't see it.

Mycroft is surely too sensible to start something with a DI, a man like Mycroft must have people watching him too! The only possible interaction I can guess between them is that due to Lestrade knowing Sherlock for 5 years he must have been kidnapped by Mycroft at some point for the same kind of talk that John got. Kidnapping doesn't really lead to terms of endearment, and would a man like Mycroft want to announce his presence to someone in the Met? I also hate the way it gets shoehorned into other pairings fics as well, it just screams laziness :(

I could possibly go on for quite a while here, so I should possibly stop. Obviously I can *see* Sherlock/John, I really quite like Lestrade/John as well, Sherlock/Lestrade in the past is always good too. Mmmm Lestrade, I'll be in my bunk ;)

Rant away! I'll be over here smacking my head against my desk. XD

(And I can't imagine two people less likely to pair up. They have nothing in common (other than Sherlock) and talk about a personality clash.)

One is the cop and the other is Sherlock's brother. Sherlock's brother would fit in at douchebag poker night, but the cop has better things to do. :D

Okay that is a weird pairing, what.

I think it started because Lestrade is sort of a 'threat' to Sherlock/John - as in, is easily shippable with either of them. He gets along well with John and knows Sherlock for a while. And in the early days of fandom some people latched on to Mycroft/Lestrade as a way to get him out of the way so Sherlock and John could get it on.

I could be completely wrong, of course. But yes, it's an odd ship. I rather like Lestrade/Molly, actually... And Mycroft/Not!Anthea.

So odd! Given that Sherlock Holmes and John Watson is one of the great literary pairings of all time (even if it's just friendship), I wouldn't think people would get a threatened vibe from other pairings.

Mycroft/Not!Anthea makes the most sense to me out of all the other pairings - at least they work together and hang out all the time. But it's rare to find that pairing in Sherlock fandom. *eyes*

Dude, WORD. Watson was possibly married to THREE women, and still would drop everything and run around the country with Holmes at a moments notice. Most epic bromance ever.

Oooh, I could hunt you up some recs if you like? There is one amazing fic where Mycroft/Not!Anthea and Sherlock/John are together, and Moriarty makes the Holmes boys think they've betrayed them. And John and Not!Anthea go on the run and are complete BAMFs and it's awesome. *searches for link*

Also it seemed like every time a wife died, John moved back in with Sherlock.

Drives me nuts when people throw in a pairing just because these two extra people happen to be hanging around. Never mind that they've never even met, they're in LURRRRRRV. *headdesk*

Some people just feel this dire need to pair EVERYONE up.

It drives me a bit batty sometimes. Le sigh.
