I watched a few episodes of Once Upon a Time. Definitely not caught up though.

  • It's fairly interesting. More than I thought it would be. It's very "Lost" in its style of flipping between the present and the past in fairy tale land. Also in how it often relates the past and the present.

  • And speaking of Lost, my one big fear for this show is that they will let it drag on forever. I really wish this show would have been a miniseries instead (or been a British production), so it would have had a definite end. If it does well, they'll probably just renew it forever, watering it down in the process.

  • Regina's evilness wears on me a bit. I keep having to remind myself that she's supposed to be this pure evil cartoonish fairy tale character. Not even the mysterious revenge thing has greyed her much in my mind. Mr. Gold is a far better grey character, even though he's supposed to be eviler than Regina.

  • I'm wondering if Emma is supposed to be Rapunzel, what with the hair and all. :D (I haven't gotten far, so this might be disproved down the line.)

  • Who's Dr. Whale supposed to be?

  • I'm sort of surprised that no one's even mentioned Henry's father. (Yet. Maybe this comes later.) I'm guessing he's a fairy tale character as well, but no one knows it.

  • As far as the end game on all this, I wouldn't mind a reset button of sorts. (Even though I generally hate reset buttons.) It'd be nice to revert back to the moment that they put baby Emma in the wardrobe, but letting everyone keep their memories for character development and so on. Then Emma can grow up with her parents, and they can tell her the story of how she was awesome while giving her archery lessons or something.

I love this show, I'm a sucker for fairytales. I've even forced myself to watch Grimm a bit. XD
Agh, I just bet it will drag on. Charming and Snow's eventual reunion, for one.
I watched the most recent episode and her vengeance seems very petty, at least to me. :/ isn't really that evil, from what I've seen of his background. He seems very Darth Vader-ish.

idk if Emma's supposed to be Rapunzel, I think she's just a new character made by the writers, like Henry.

I'm baffled by Dr. Whale too. His name makes me think of the whale from Pinnochio I don't even

gets mentioned in an episode. I wonder if he's also a fairy tale character as well, and wonder how that'll be because none of the storybook characters could leave the town.

As long as they're not ~dead all along~ I'd be okay with any ending. XD

- If you are enjoying it, you do have a few weeks to catch up before the next episode! Episode 19 is on April 22. I fell for the show around episode 4 so that's when I started reviewing and picspamming.

- I do hope they have learned from Lost not to let mysteries pile up. I didn't watch the show myself but I've heard lots about it since I started watching Once! I suppose we'll see how good they are about answering questions once the season finale arrives.

- I am a fan of Regina's evilness (though mostly in fairytale land when she can go WAY over the top) and I love her FTL clothing. She is basically straight up evil, though with a few layers and I admit that the layers may be me enjoying Lana Parilla's acting. Especially when she is in a scene with Robert Carlyle. Mr. Gold is beautifully grey and interesting. Perhaps you've noticed he's my favorite? :)

- The hair is that she is a fairytale princess. An uncursed one. It's fairytale hair!

- Do you really want to know who he's supposed to be?

- I so don't want a reset button even if it means that they don't get to raise her. It seems like a cheat. And what would happen to Henry then?

I'm not even going to start on the feels I get from Regina's and Gold's characterizations. Okay, I will, I think the writers have done really well by Gold/Rumples but not so much by Regina which makes me sad, but I think they have done one thing (at least) well with her and that's her relationship with Henry I think as evil as she is there's a part of her who does genuinely care for him.

I always thought Whale was supposed to be Pinocchio, even though sometimes the writers are a bit more clever with names than that.

I think the reset button is where you and I differ for this show. I think they should be able to go back to FTL with their memories intact but that's about it.

Regina's evilness, and how she got to be that way is definitely a future plot point, don't worry.

Dr Whale's identity isn't going to be revealed this season.

Emma's not really any fairytale character. She's just herself.

How far are you?

You will find out who Emma is. It's pretty cool.

Regina stays cartoonish in her evilness, even when you find out why she is evil. Improbable revenge is improbable.

Mr Gold gets more gray as the series goes on. He is definitely my favorite character.

I'm all caught up and we still don't know much about Henry's father. I'm not holding my breath on that one.

If there's one thing I've learned watching OUaT, it's that I should never watch Lost. I do like the split storylines, but I find it frustrating in a way I can't quite nail down. Basically, when the show ends I want to go in and edit everything in FTL in order to see if it actually holds together because I feel like it doesn't since they keep writing in things the recontextualize what we already saw but it doesn't feel like they were always *intended* to be there in the story.

It's tied in with the fact that I don't feel like the writers have a real roadmap for how this will play out, how long it will take, and how it ll fits together. And I feel like this is a show that really needs that type of thing. Like you said, it needs to have a planned ending, and a set amount of time to get there, because if it drags on and on it's going to be hard to take.

I like how the most recent episode explained Regina's character. My hope is that Emma and Henry's work to break the curse will be the catalyst to break Regina out of her cycle of grief and revenge, just as it will release the Storybrook characters back to their own reality. Because she too, is trapped, frozen in space and time by her own hand.

Keep watching: it gets better :) (Well, it did for me, anyway ;D)
And Mr Gold's episodes are the best :)

Watch out for the episode with King Midas in it. He's played by one of my very good buddies. :D

I really wish this show would have been a miniseries instead (or been a British production), so it would have had a definite end.

I thought the same thing when I first started watching it, but then I ended up caring more about the secondary characters than I do about the primary ones. So I’m just as glad that they have the extra episodes to spend on those characters.
