OMG POLL

Another poll on the internet has popped up, and you know what that means! FEELINGS. XD

BBC America Poll of Mens - David Tennant vs. Matt Smith

I love some of the comments. Apparently the only reason you could possibly vote for DT instead of MS is because you're one of those fangirls who just thinks he's hot.

I didn't! I didn't even know he'd been on it.

Oooh, I'm glad they put him over in Doctor Who. He would have been completely miscast as Watson.

Moffat admitted that Smith was too much like Cumberbatch in looks.

True.

(who, ironically, is MORE of an acting chamelion)

He TOTALLY is. He definitely has never been typecast.

lolol because no one has ever found Matt Smith to be hot ever. OMG internet, you never fail to astound me.

NEVAR.

I don't know why people are excluding the possibility of me voting for David Tennant because I genuinely like him and I think Eleven is terrible.

(I mean, not Matt Smith. I actually really like Matt Smith. But Eleven? LOLOLOLOL nope. ))

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, nope. You're a pubescent girl who kisses David Tennant posters. :D

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_thirty2flavors/ 2012-06-15 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm okay with that provided I'm still allowed to burn Eleven statues in effigy.

Well, of course that's it! Is there any other reason? *scratches head* I'm quite certain appreciation of hot men is the only reason women do anything and it's certainly the only thing we ever notice.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup! I have to say though, it does take a lot of pressure off the brain. It's sort of nice and floaty.

[identity profile] fauxkaren.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Personally, I voted for David Tennant to spite the people who said people are only voting for him because he's attractive.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
The lure of being contrary is strong. I'm thinking about voting against Tom Hiddleston in upcoming rounds simply because he's so popular. XD (Even though I don't dislike him at all - thought he was the most interesting in Thor.)

ISN'T HOTNESS THE WHOLE POINT?? omg, fangirls, get off my siiiide (CAN I VOTE FOR JON PERTWEE INSTEAD?)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
IF THAT'S THE CASE, THEN WHY IS TOM BAKER SO POPULAR??

Hmm. Hotness of the classic Doctors... I'd go with Five, Eight and Three.

Because he's a perv, and everyone loves a perv? (IDK, I think it's the fanboys that go for Baker, though I must admit during that era he was attractive, if you have a thing for tall men with curly hair and ridiculous smiles. like me, *judges self*)

But I'd probably vote Pertwee right now, if only because it means Jo Grant wins by proximity.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2012-06-16 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
But Pertwee was a tall man with curly hair and a ridiculous smile as well. And reasonably attractive.

A tiny part of me voted just to be contrary. And because I love DT's absolute dorkery and fan-boy antics. And he has a pretty voice. (Not because he's hot - dude is WAY too pretty for my tastes. Attractive? Yes. Hot and sexy? No.) And his story of the Doctor wasn't the convoluted hot mess of a fustercluck that MS's is thus far.

*Laments that she couldn't have voted for CE*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, if it was a choice between DT and CE then I really would have had a problem. HOW WOULD I CHOOSE?

I have to admit I've not watched him much outside of DW. Nothing much he's done has appealed to me! :D

I've seen gifs of that as Doctor/Rose. :D

I think Matt is a talented actor and he has a good screen presence but I find Eleven terribly written, I am less attracted to Matt, and I also find his personality a bit less likable/more... bro-ish in interviews possibly due to excessive time spent around Steven Moffat.

IS THAT ENOUGH REASONS FOR YOU YET, INTERNET?

I've seen Matt Smith in a few other things now (Christopher and His Kind, Womb, Secret Diary, the Sally Lockhart things) and I've quite liked him in all of them. I really do think he's talented and I really do think he's well-suited to the role of Doctor. I just think his Doctor is, sadly, very poorly written, and while Matt does what he can with the material, there's just not a lot to go off of.

But, y'know, Eleven is his biggest role so that's what he's associated with and he's up against David Tennant in this meaningless internet poll, so it's not like there's any competition for me. HAVE I EARNED THE RIGHT TO VOTE FOR DAVID TENNANT YET, FANDOM?

[identity profile] larxene-12.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I admire them both separately, but I'd have to choose Tennant over Smith; yeah, he's more attractive, but Tennant is way more talented and and diverse than Smith. Isn't it a talent competition as much as a beauty pageant?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure they've even defined it other than "favorite" have they? So maybe I'm basing it on shoe size! XD

[identity profile] six.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That, and apparently you're stuck in 2009. lol internet.

WE MUST LOVE WHAT IS IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF US. Like that steak you had last week? TOO BAD YOU HAVE A BIG MAC NOW AND IT IS YOUR FAVORITE.

[identity profile] tripocket.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I may be the only person alive that simply finds Matt Smith creepy. I can't watch him in interviews without cringing, and I can't watch him as the Doctor because he's just Matt Smith. I doubt I would have watched Sherlock if he had been John Watson. I have the same aversion to Jim Carey and Tom Baker. Yes, that Tom Baker... the one most people love. I'm sure they are all completely pleasant people and I know the issue is all mine, but it made it very easy for me to vote.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh dear. I have that with a small number of actors as well. One is Nathon Fillion. It's just an immediate I DON'T LIKE YOU reaction for some reason. XD

[identity profile] tripocket.livejournal.com 2012-06-15 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I always feel bad about it because it's really nothing they've done or anything so it's obviously my issue.. but it means I'm probably not going to watch them. (Although I did watch Mr. Baker as the Doctor.)

[identity profile] logicisfailing.livejournal.com 2012-06-17 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
It's funny, I didn't understand the LOVE!AWESOME feeling people seemed to have about Nathan Fillion at first. I mainly remembered him as creepy!Caleb on Buffy and, while I didn't particularly DISlike him, I just found him "ok" (did NOT see what all the fuss was about!). I watched the Firefly pilot and Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog and this meh/ok feeling remained...until I saw Castle. After watching a few episodes, loved the show, really liked NF, so I decided to give Firefly another try and loved it too. NF's usually pretty hilarious in interviews as well. It's odd...usually the initial feeling kind of stays with you...I have no idea why it didn't in this case.

[identity profile] morgaine-nicely.livejournal.com 2012-07-24 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
you're not the only one alive [livejournal.com profile] tripocket there's others of us out here too although i love Tom Baker. so we part ways on that part lol

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2012-06-16 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
I don't find David Tennant to be particularly hot. Attractive in a boyish way and a really good actor that can pull my heart apart, yes. I suppose in his own way, Matt Smith is similar, but not as...hmm...weathered? Broken in? Maybe just terribly young and less experienced as an actor for such a big role that has been a horrible mess since Moffat took over not been well managed by the writing staff of DW these last few years. He has made me cry once. David Tennant made me cry a few times. But hotness for either of them? No. Give me Christopher Eccleston or Paul McGann and I will show you hotness. As for being one of those fangirls? I've been watching the show since 1974 when I was four. I still think Ten was a better acted and written Doctor than Eleven and that DT is a better, more engaging actor than MS, but again, that's experience. MS has the potential to be great given writers that could plot properly.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2012-06-16 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I agree with you. The only time I really bought into Eleven was in "Death of the Doctor," which probably shows how utterly biased I am when it comes to writing. If RTD had been writing him, I think I could have really liked Eleven.

I'm with Jack. I used to have an icon of that scene.
