Prettiest torch/cauldron I've ever seen! Really, the design, the idea, the execution - it was really perfect.
That being said, WHAT IS UP WITH THE LACK OF DOCTOR WHO? YOU HAD MARY POPPINS, VOLDEMORT AND MR BEAN, BUT YOU DIDN'T THINK TO INCLUDE THE DOCTOR? WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE ANYWAY? WHATEVER, BRITAIN.

Luckily, I got home to find a reply of the "highlights" of the ceremony. While I do not possibly see how it could be all of the highlights when it cut out giant Voldemorts and JKR reading, that was the part I did see before work, so I am now happy.

Oh Lord that picture was hilarious.

That sucks. Half the fun of watch it was wondering what the hell was going to happen next!

I was disappointed that David Tennant wasn't involved in the torch lighting. But then, having those seven children lighting the torch was pretty awesome, so my disappointment wanes. I have seen a picture around tumblr of a Rose and Ten look-alike in the crowd surrounding the torch, but I was on my phone when I saw it and can't work out if it was photoshopped until I rewatch it.

Besides...still having too many happy feels over every participating nation having a female competitor for the first time ever. That's something the Doctor would have liked.

The lighting was really perfect - way more than any Doctor Who thing could have been. But I still am disappointed there wasn't more Doctor Who.

And the Doctor would approve of the women.

I am also disappointed by lack of Who, but I think the reason is because all of these other things (Voldemort/HP, Poppins, Bean) are kind of universally recognized the world over. They have brought us all together. Where as DW is more just the UK, and some of us crazies over here who get BBC America. So while we all would have crapped our pants with the awesomeness of the moment, the rest of the people would have been like "Who the f is this gangly smiley idiot lighting the cauldron thing?"

So while I don't like it, I get it. I guess.

Yeah, what they did was 100x better than any Doctor Who thing.
