I heard this on the radio driving into work yesterday morning. This radio show isn't a political one - it's mainly one of those goofy morning shows, but they do try and get involved in the community (helping open shelters, getting listeners involved in civic events). Yesterday they had on an Iraqi expatriate. One who used to be in the army and has met Saddam.

You can read politics into this interview if you must - I just saw it as someone's perspective/stories of having been there. And therefore very interesting.

Jeff & Jer

Should be towards the top - "Iraqi expatriate"

Wow. This is really, really great. I recced it on my LJ just to try and cover all the bases.

I think it's amazing how little people (like the DJs here) know about how life is in Iraq. I mean, the information is out there if people care to look for it.

I keep thinking of that little boy in the classroom who incriminated his father, and how he's going to have to live with that for the rest of his life.

Wasn't it an amazing look into this guy's experiences?

It's very true. And even if we do know about it, we can never begin to imagine what it's really like.

I know. Horrible.

The one thing that got me was this guy's dad - who knew he would be killed but told his son to go anyway and sacraficed himself.

God, I know. It's so awful that anyone should have to make that kind of decision.

It's beyond anything I can possibly imagine.
