Olympics

I can't decide if I care to watch the opening ceremonies for the Olympics. On the one hand it's like "yay, global event!" On the other...meh. Maybe I'll check out the flist to see if there was anything cool that happened before tuning in. We should be getting it hours after it happened anyway. Wonder if we'll have the same thing as last time where the announcers talked over EVERY MINUTE of the ceremony. I can understand them doing that over the parade of nations which can be amusing in its inanity...

"And here we have the United Kingdom who's known for their fish and chips."

"That's right, Jim. And did you know they're also a part of Europe?"

"They are? I thought they were an island, Steve."

But don't talk over the speeches! Or musical numbers! It's damn annoying.

Oh God. I just remembered. This means [livejournal.com profile] nandamai and [livejournal.com profile] poohmusings will be talking incessantly about ice skating for the next couple of weeks. Oy.

Well, I'll be talking about speed skating, because my cousin is on the Canadian team.

Woah, COOL!

Or are you talking about the people spinning around? The drama gets entertaining -- a wicked part of me wants to see Michelle Kwan fall on her ass again. ;)

HA! Actually, that's pretty much the only time I'm entertained by it all.
