Weird

Went out to eat tonight and on the drive home, my tongue started to tingle. And it didn't stop. o_O Didn't hurt, just tingled. And dry throat. My friend the nurse gave me Benadryl and Vitamin B and made me stop looking on the internet. "OMG, mercury poisoning!" "ACK! I have MS!" "I'm having a stroke, aren't I? That's it. I'm having a stroke." After about an hour it's finally starting to go away although my mouth is still dry.

Just really too weird.

What did you eat? The tingling thing can be a sign of an allergic reaction. My sister is allergic to fish and it presents as a tingling in her ears. So she researched the whole tingling thing.

It was just pizza. Pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, cheese...

Probably not mercury poisoning. I say this as someone who broke a thermometer and then vacuumed it up. Because I'm an idiot, apparently. (Breathing mercury vapor is the very worst thing you can do with it.)

I had no symptoms. So unless you ended up with more mercury in your system than I did, I think you're safe from that. ;)

Oh wow. Well, I probably wouldn't have thought anything of vacuuming it up either. And I haven't had fish in a while, so I kinda doubt it could have been that. :)

D. had some weird liver test results. According to the internet he's already dead... Never trust Teh Internets on these things. *g*

Oh totally. According to the internet I could have had *all* kinds of scary things. :D

I get a tingly tongue, burning lips and I get =very= thirsty from eating pizza or anything else with tomato in it.
Mild allergic reaction, apparently no biggie.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-08-26 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe that was it. I've never had a problem with tomato before, but I guess allergies can suddenly appear. Kinda hope that isn't it - love tomatoes. Eat the plain with a bit of salt all the time.

My seafood allergy appeared over the course of one week in my late 20s.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-08-27 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Were you a big seafood eater before that?

[identity profile] elismor.livejournal.com 2006-08-27 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)

Not every day--but a few times a month, easily.

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2006-08-26 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwww you probably had a reaction to something.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-08-26 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that was probably it. As a kid I was allergic to chocolate and milk, but I grew out of that by the time I hit high school and haven't had any allergies to anything since. Weird.

[identity profile] elismor.livejournal.com 2006-08-27 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)

Oooo. Chocolate and tomatoes are both in the nightshade family. People who are allergic to one are often allergic to both!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-08-27 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
But I don't *want* to be allergic to tomatoes! I LOVE tomatoes! If I had to be stranded on a deserted island with one fruit/vegetable, it would be tomatoes. wah.

Haven't had anything with tomatoes since. Might try something again in a few days.

Eeek, very strange!! Glad the tingling went away, though.

Me too - so weird!
