I was having the most wonderful dream. Except you were there, and you were there, and you!

So I woke up this morning to a loud noise and I could not figure out what it was for the life of me. Sort of sounded like a vacuum cleaner going. But I thought maybe it was just my inconsiderate upstairs neighbors who every great once in a while like to blast easy-listening at 5 a.m. So I stayed in bed a while. Finally, looked at the clock and decided to get up since it was already 6:30. Opened the bedroom door and, to paraphrase that horror movie, THE NOISE IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE.

W.T.F?

And it was coming from the computer room. The noise was *way* too loud to be the fan going out on my computer, plus it wasn't on. Took me a second to realize that my paper shredder was going full force. o_O 1) Haven't used that thing in months. 2) There's no way it could have switched on by itself. It's not the kind that has an auto-shutoff when paper isn't in the slot - you have to actually switch it on and off when you want to use it.

Since I don't believe I have just acquired paper-shredding ghosts from the 1972 Watergate team, I must have been sleepwalking last night. Oy. Well, I have been super stressed at work in the last couple of days - probably the most stressed I've been all year. And it's always seemed to happen when I've been stressed. Which is why I was banned from watching Scooby Doo as a kid. (Poor mom had a couple of nerd children - my brother got banned from listening to the 1812 Overture.)

*twitches*

Woah. Have you checked to see what, if anything, you may have shredded. Like, say, your birth certificate?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-12-13 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I did check. Heh heh. Just seems like the typical stuff.

[identity profile] roseredathena.livejournal.com 2006-12-13 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It was your inner Enron. =)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-12-13 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Apparently! o_O

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2006-12-13 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh please be careful. I have heard stories of people getting into their cars and drving while asleep. Stress is a killer. I send you soothing thoughts and rose petals.

Fortunately, I've only ever gone outside once, even as a kid, and then it was just on my patio where I'm living now. Ran outside because I swore there was A DUCK IN TROUBLE. I actually woke up that time. :D

[identity profile] splash-the-cat.livejournal.com 2006-12-13 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Ducks are a significant recurring theme in your life. :)

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-12-13 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Apparently. Yeesh.

[identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com 2006-12-13 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww you wanted to save the duck.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-12-13 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
But of course! :D

[identity profile] splash-the-cat.livejournal.com 2006-12-13 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
*HUGS* on the job stress.

You have a phantom paper shredder, eh? Have you been shredding a lot of paper at work? Is your home paper shredder mad at you for neglecting it?

(Poor mom had a couple of nerd children - my brother got banned from listening to the 1812 Overture.)

*laughs* Well, as much as I love it, I can see why! Especially if it was one of the versions with actual church bells and actual cannons. Hee.

You were banned from Scooby Doo? Whyever for? There were a ton of things I watched over and over and over again until my Mom got sick of them, but she still didn't ban them.

I haven't, but it's probably been hungry!

Uh huh. Got my brother too worked up playing conductor. On two separate occasions he shot a tennis ball "cannon ball" through the window, and gave me a black eye when I got in the way of his conducting wand...

I got freaked out as a kid. :D Scooby Doo had GHOSTS. *flails* Scooby Doo got banned after one night, while sleepwalking, I ran around the house screaming and turning on all the lights. The parents ended up scaring the crap out of each other trying to chase me down, and finally found me back in bed asleep. :D

(Totally genetic. My grandma's told me stories of my dad sleepwalking. Don't think he ever did it as an adult though.)

Once, as a child, I got up out of bed in the middle of the night and took a shoe back to bed with me. All while fast asleep.

Yeah, that's it. That's my only story. *sigh*

Stress sucks. Stress especially sucks at this time of year.

You might want to hide anything you *don't* want accidentally shredded in the middle of the night...

BWAH!!!

I've lined up clothes at the door before. And moved furniture...

Stress sucks. Stress especially sucks at this time of year.

That's only adding to it, I'm sure. Still haven't done any Christmas shopping.

You might want to hide anything you *don't* want accidentally shredded in the middle of the night...

Good point.

But isn't that when you normally get up anyway? ;)

I must have been sleepwalking last night

Okay, did I know you do this? Although I do recall the duck story. I probably didn't catch the part where you were sleepwalking, though. Rushing to save a distressed duck on your patio? Yeah, typical Michelle. *g*

*hugs on the work stress* We should talk. (Speaking of which, I'm going to try to be on this afternoon.) My work schedule has been so wonky ...

Shhhhhhh!

I *think* I may have mentioned it when we all first bunked together in 2004. As in, "I feel I need to warn you all..."

YAY!!!

I have never sleepwalked in my life. *Grin* My sister, on the other hand... I remember hearing the story of the time when we were in Primary school. She was doing a talk on Horses for a class. The night before, she was sleepwalking, convinced she needed to get to class. Mum found her just as she was proceeding to the stairs. I think she might have been holding a blanket, too... But yeah, Mum sent her back to bed, and sis remembered nothing. XD

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-12-13 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwww! Yeah, most times I remember nothing. (Shoot, I could be doing this on a nightly basis.) Growing up, quite often I'd come down to breakfast to a "you were sleepwalking again last night..."

[identity profile] pixiesio.livejournal.com 2006-12-13 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Eep! You sure they weren't ghosts? They're sneaky that way.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-12-13 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Fairly certain... :D

I remember once when I was younger, probably about 14-16, I guess I was sleepwalking one night, and my mom was still awake in the kitchen. I was walking towards the back door, mom asked me where I was going, I said I was going to get a pizza. Mind you this was about 1-2 in the morning! Don't remember a thing about it. I used to sleepwalk a lot when I was little though, parentals used to be worried about me staying over at friends houses, especially if they had pools! Yeeesh!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-12-13 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yikes! That's rather scary. Good thing your mom was there!

[identity profile] noblealice.livejournal.com 2006-12-14 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
OMG! Spooky! Maybe it was a cake-Dalek wanting revenge?

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-12-14 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

[identity profile] angst-angel.livejournal.com 2006-12-14 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
That would've been freaky!! I hope work goes better for you, hon. *huggles*

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2006-12-14 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. :) *hugs*
