I need to get out of the house. I *should* get out of the house. However, I'm still in my PJs. Today I've managed to:
  1. Stomp on someone's glee.

  2. Puzzle over why my DVD drive recognizes DVDs one minute and not the next, while swearing a *lot.*

  3. Take my annoyance out on Stormtroopers in a FPS I haven't played in years. Now if only Lando would quit dying on me (the inept bastard), I might be able to finish this level before the boredom takes over.
I'm blaming my cranky mood on being directed to f_w yesterday. I used to read f_w religiously, but then all the negativity finally got to me and quit it cold turkey. After reading the wank in question (and screen caps) yesterday, I've come to the conclusion that f_w is a lot like news media. Occasionally they'll run across a valid wank (like that HP nonsense), but a lot of the time it's mountains out of molehills. Like when the news does "a common soft drink may kill you - details at ten!!!" but when you actually see the story, you find out the whole story's based on "if you drink three cases of Coke in an hour, you may die." Okay, it's true, but it's all kind of irrelevant.

Stomp on someone's glee.

Awwww. You didn't stomp on my glee, seriously. It's cool.

Sometimes I find f_w an interesting read, but as you say, it's a bit of a crapshoot. And most of the time, I'm staring at it going, what makes this interesting, again? Why are we up in arms about it?

Dare I ask what you were directed to look at over there?

Well, I sorta did. Afterwards I was like, wow, I'm quite the snooty asshole today. *huggles*

Exactly.

Oh, it was some SGA thing. Some of it *was* pretty dumb (like I guess someone spammed a million communities, an amusing thing about U.S. grammar failing U.K. standards, and a "goodbye, cruel fic world") but the rest just wasn't all that "OMG, the WRONG! Grab your pitchforks!"

*wraps you in a huge hug and offers tea and cookies* =)

Tea is the ultimate panacea. =D

I find a lot of times that the posters on f_w wank more then what they report.

Heh. Probably true.

I used to read fandom_wank when it was on Blurty, and it seemed pretty funny then, and also through the move to JF. Now it's some funny, some serious opinions about the wank, "word" and "icon love!" responses, and then the rest is filled up with porn and cat macros. Which is totally okay, but generally not something I want to wade through 200 posts about so I can maybe giggle twice.

Never saw it on Blurty, but I guess it's kinda like a lot of things - starts out good but just gets annoying.
