Evolution of the Daleks

  • Oh, man. So the Doctor offered up his life for the people behind him, which isn't unusual. But it was the *way* he did it. "DO IT! DO IT! JUST DO IT!! DO IT!" Like the round and round cars in Gridlock, the Daleks always survive when he loses everything. And it seemed like he just wanted it all to stop. :(

  • Heh. Davros mention. Well, they didn't actually say his name.

  • Couldn't *exactly* figure out why the Doctor was helping to create a new race. That whole reasoning is a bit fuzzy in my mind. And I thought it was a solar flare that was supposed to give power to these people, but lightning did it?

  • The Doctor's really got a problem with his screwdriver this series. Must. Not. Make. Jokes.

  • The red shoes! Okay, the TARDIS makes stuff. *nods*

  • Yeah. Why...why've they got the humandalek chained up like a pet?

  • So we wind up with human-dalek-Time-Lords? But they're killed anyway, so trying to figure out their genetic makeup is probably just a waste of time.

  • And the Dalek escapes. Right. So, money on the finale?

  • Overall, it was...okay. Kinda doubt I'll be needing to see this episode again. Think I was too confused by motivations, and the insta-"humanity is wonderful and we must give up our war-like ways!" by the humandalek was a bit trite - have seen that good old getting a taste of humanity thing in sci-fi so many times before.

WOW, I did not like this. It was draggy and boring. Daleks should not be boring!

Yeah, even I wasn't having much Dalek squee in this episode. Where I point and squish for they are too adorable for words. (Yes, I have a very strange problem with Daleks.)

This whole episode made me feel like a bitter, cynical person, because no WAY would everyone in 1930 New York be so huggy with Martha and Solomon.

I saw that brought up by many people after last week's episode, and while I *totally* agree, I put a mental "lalalala" on that part. Just so utterly unrealistic.

And poor Laszlo would be dead pretty soon.

You'd kinda think, wouldn't you? But again, I was lalalalaing.

And why is it evil to kill the last Dalek *HUFF*

I don't think they really successfully got that across. I kinda get it thinking back on it now - it was a genocide thing. Even back with Four, he couldn't completely wipe them out when he had a chance. But here I think it was more of a Face-of-Boe-last-of-his-kind-type thing. The Doctor seems to be trying to grasp onto people/entities that could possibly identify with or understand him this series. He was *desperate* not to lose the Face of Boe, when he barely even knew him. Met him on Platform One, and then had a few words with him in the hospital. It's not very rational, but it seems the Doctor's a bit lost at the moment.

The Dalek was also last of his kind, and so the Doctor tries to grab hold again. And hell, this one is SO irrational. The Doctor *knows* a Dalek is a Dalek. But maybe he had it in his mind that Rose had done it once (with a little genetic help) - she'd gotten a Dalek who thought it was the last to have a redemption of sorts - and so maybe it could happen again?

Um, he was totally thinking about Rose at the end? Yay?

*waves flag*

Oh yes, death wishes galore! Maybe this is the lead-in to...those episodes?

I would *kill* for an Idiot's Lantern episode right about now.
