mrv3000: made by elismor (disneyland - pumpkin goofy)
mrv3000 ([personal profile] mrv3000) wrote2007-08-23 09:36 am

Is it the weekend yet?

It's getting towards fall, and so I'm getting the urge to go to Disneyland again. Summertime is pretty much off-limits for me. Heat + crowds = hell on earth. The only time I've broken down and gone during the summer was on the day of its 50th birthday.

I'm kinda craving a giant corn dog again. The kind you get at DCA. The kind as big as [livejournal.com profile] poohmusings' head. Also, haven't been on the new Finding Nemo ride yet.

Wonder if they've got a new plastic coffee mug design going now. I have a tendency to pick one of those up when I leave the park - coffee for the ride home. But the latest "[something] of Dreams" was a lame design. Hopefully they'll switch out for Halloween/fall.

Can't wait to see the pumpkin decorations again. I think I like those decorations better than the Christmas decorations (which were starting to look a bit sad last year, and need to be replaced.) Wonder if the pumpkins will appear after Labor Day. Well, as soon as it cools down a bit, I might need to go investigate.

You know, one of these days I should really try Blue Bayou (the restaurant in the PotC ride.) I always wind up at the Wine Country Trattoria in DCA though, which [livejournal.com profile] poohmusings, [livejournal.com profile] nandamai and I discovered a few years back. (During the trip of the infamous [livejournal.com profile] diavestra & son shakedown of [livejournal.com profile] elismor of $20.) I really like the food they have there (plus wine with the meal), but I suppose I should do Blue Bayou once, just to say I've done it.

And I don't wish to alarm anyone, especially [livejournal.com profile] goldy_dollar, but...

RTD says DT's staying for all of S4

Well, we all know what THAT means, right? OMG HE'LL BE GONE BY EP 3!!!! *FLAILS*

I also heard a rumor that RTD might possibly be backpedaling on the Jack = Face of Boe thing, but haven't seen an actual source on that. Don't be Jossing mah fic, you plot-hole loving nutter!

Heh. You know, you really can't call what RTD does "Jossing," as it's in a class all its own. It's RTDing.

[flails a little too] And that's the thing--DT may be staying, yes. But will he be playing the Doctor during all of s4? With RTD's cracktasticness, who knows?

I also heard a rumor that RTD might possibly be backpedaling on the Jack = Face of Boe thing, but haven't seen an actual source on that. Don't be Jossing mah fic, you plot-hole loving nutter!

I'm still shaking my head on that one. Perhaps it'll just get written off as a joke?

Heh. You know, you really can't call what RTD does "Jossing," as it's in a class all its own. It's RTDing.

Well, getting Jossed isn't something that reflects on any special ability of Joss's. It just meant that the story took a turn that made your fic AU, like really AU. But RTD, it's like he has some special kind of keyboard that turns whatever he writes into utter crack. He really is in a league of his own, as you said.

I'm still shaking my head on that one. Perhaps it'll just get written off as a joke?

It could be. Probably RTD finally *looked* at a picture of Boe and realized that he had tentacles and such and so perhaps maybe it didn't make as much sense as he once thought... :D

Right right. Not only does your fic become AU, there's a giant ball of WEIRD that comes with it. :D

The Blue Bayou was actually pretty good. The spaghetti was amazing. Mom, Sister and I went last time we were in Disneyland (sadly enough, 1996). I remember that up until Mom told us we were eating there, I had always thought that it was a bunch of animatronic robots and not a real restaurant. Hey, I'd been there only once before when I was 4/5. GIVE ME A BREAK.

If RTD's actually telling the truth (fool me 11 times, shame on you; fool me 12 or more times, shame on me) about DT staying through S4, I smell TCI-type "introduce the new Doctor" Christmas ep.

The most consistant rumor I've heard is that DT is leaving mid-season 4; that one's been around since last year, I think, so it's the one I'm trying to prepare for. Still, I thought I'd hate DT after CE left (ok, I did hate him initially) and now I love him. I'm just getting sick of cast changes. It's too much like watching a damn soap opera; if I wanted to see different actors playing the same character and people coming back from the dead, I'd turn on SoapNet, for christssake.

Umm...not that I'm a bitter, bitter fangirl...or anything.

Oh, I love Disneyland, I go whenever I can, but NEVER during the summer. *shudders* And the Blue Bayou is pretty good, or at least it was the last time I went -- the prime rib was excellent. It's a little pricey, but IMO worth it for the atmosphere.

I don't know what you are referring to. Jack is NOT The Face of Boe, it never happened, there was no mention of it on the show, it was simply a mass hallucination brought on by the appearance of Tinkerbell Doctor. If I refuse to accept it, it never happened.

That's actually a *fantastic* time of year to go to Disneyland. Mid-November and the Christmas decorations should be up, which are neat. Small World is changed over to Christmas songs, and is actually ridable. And the Haunted Mansion is also changed over to the Nightmare Before Christmas, which I really like.

You can check out their calendar for hours and to see which rides are closed for refurbishment.

http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/calendar/monthly/monthly?name=CalendarMonthlyPage

WARNING: Don't know what dates mid-November means, but I would avoid the park altogether over the Thanksgiving period, which is November 22 - 25. I might even avoid it that whole week of the 19th - not entirely sure. Any kind of holiday and the park is PACKED.

If they have the "Remember...Dreams Come True Fireworks Show" going on, SEE IT. You might have to camp out on Main Street an hour before it starts, but it is completely worth it. Best fireworks show I've ever seen in my life. I'm still waiting for them to have a DVD of it - it's that good! *flails*

I think my best advice is to get there a little before the park opens - they usually let people into Main Street before actually "opening." If you need one, grab a locker first thing. You can use it all day - in and out as much as you want - and they go quick. Your best lines are going to be first thing, so hit the big rides first.

OH! And if you don't mind riding alone, you can save a *lot* of time on a few rides, like Splash Mountain. You go up to the person manning the line, ask for a "single rider," they give you a piece of paper and you go into the exit. The next available open space is yours. (I think the logs have 5 seats, and there are a lot of even-numbered groups - so it doesn't take long.) When [livejournal.com profile] poohmusings and I go, we'll often do Single Rider for that or Indiana Jones and so on. We never sit together, but we don't care.

Um...I could probably throw out Disneyland advice all day. :D

and hey! If RTD backpedals enough, he might even backpaedal right back to Nine! \o/

I might be going to Disneyland in October! I've only ever been there once before. I think they've changed a lot since then. Sort of funny, we did go to the Blue Bayou that time, and I can't remember the food (and it looks like they changed the menu since then in any case), but the setting is gorgeous.

I'm kinda craving a giant corn dog again.

Haha...my county fair just ended. I ate way too many corn dogs. (And not enough funnel cake).

Somehow, what RTD does is way more stressful than what Joss does. But I can't decide which of the two take more pleasure in messing with the fans (though I'd say RTD, just because so many Who-fans get pissy with him, while Joss can Do No Wrong).

Now I'm missing Disneyland too! Though last time I went was for a wedding where I FINALLY got to get into Club 33...so I guess that's gonna have to tide me over for awhile.
But this is the longest I've gone without a pass/working there since I was 16 (now 28) and it's incredibly odd. I'm with you on the no-go in the summer though. The 50th was the last time I went in the summer as well. And we still only made it to like 12. As for the Blue Bayou...a year or so ago I woulda said save your money 'cause it was so not worth it. But apparently they've completely changed their menu and now they're actually pretty good. More expensive, but at least the foods supposed to be good. Never been to the Trattoria even though my aunt apparently works there now.

DT staying for the whole series better be true or I'll be flying over to visit my in laws for the sole purpose of hunting down RTD and murdering him. It'd be one lie too many for me.
