I never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually looking forward to the DW Christmas episode! I'm shocked! :D

Could it actually be a funny episode? A Christmas episode without death, gloom and despair?? But...IT'S CHRISTMAS! :D
Okay, they could still throw in angst, but for now I'm gonna pretend that this is an actual happy and comical episode.
First of all, "the Doctor" isn't actually the Doctor. I think anyone can tell that from the preview. If he was actually a future incarnation, he (DM's Doctor) would have recognized himself. So this is someone who's heard about the Doctor and is impersonating him. Possibly a Time Agent? Don't think he's an actual Time Lord, otherwise the Doctor's spider sense would have been tingling. Or maybe time travel isn't involved at all and "the TARDIS" is just a carriage. HEH.
But I get the feeling this is going to be a loving parody of Ten. It'll be a caricatured version of him. Or, dare I say it, a fannish version of him. :D I expect lots of self-mocking, which could be hysterical!

Oooh, you're right! I've been trying to figure out what it was that amused me about him, and that's it exactly! He's a cartoonish Ten! This could be fun!
Yeah, the Allons-y is what convinced me that he's NOT the Doctor. Because that's not a Doctor trait, that's the TEN trait, so clearly he's impersonating Ten.
I'm hoping for a fun Christmas special ;) It looks good!

Allons-y is Ten's thing, so that's a big clue right there. And the swagger and wink - it's totally a parody of Ten. :D
I hope that they'll keep it light for the most part. This show could use a healthy dose of comedy.

I guess the question is HOW is he imitating Ten without knowing who Ten is or recognizing him on sight? Unless there's something weird and strange going on to cause an altra-Ten. Hmmm.

I don't know what I think about Morissey-Doctor being from the future or from the Victorian time period. Because it really could go either way. Hmm. I mean, they weren't shocked by the weird cyber-head thing. But at the same time, I could totally buy that he's a local putting on an act.

Also, I have a screencap of the final scene where they're both aiming their "sonic screwdrivers" and damn me if the Next Doctor's sonic screwdriver isn't in fact a regular old very much non-sonic flat-head screwdriver.

It looks like so much FUN! The only other thing I've ever seen DM in, I didn't really care for him, so I had a "MEH" attitude about the episode. But after seeing that promo, it looks really good!

I suspect it will be a simplified reworking of the audio drama "The One Doctor", which could be fascinating. And fun, darnit!

People have said that this episode takes place a while after Journey's End, so it's nice to see that he's been able to get on with his life. Between this and Music of the Spheres, I'm hopeful that he's moving out of emo!Doctor mode.
