What's this that I have in my hands? A Journal of Impossible Things? Why yes, it is! :D

Overall I wish it were a bit bigger in order to be able to read things easier, but still, SO COOL. No pictures right now since I'm at work, but I might have to scan some of these doodles for iconing purposes. One of the Cybermen doodles is cracking me up.

There's lots of rambling, which you'd expect given that it's supposedly a dream journal.
  • The TARDIS - "my safe place, although may not be safe if I get lost inside it - my magic box." He goes on about it in different places, repeating "safe place" a lot, and calls being inside it like a "mother's embrace," but at one point admits he feels like a fugitive inside it. Although the whole police box motif confuses him. :D

  • The sonic screwdriver is his "metal magic pen."

  • Gallifreyan symbols doodled here and there. "I don't know what they mean, but I know in my dream." And in one place, part of the Torchwood logo scribbled on top of Gallifreyan symbols.

  • Many pages on different enemies seen in New Who, and quite a long ramble about the Daleks.

  • He talks about the strangeness of being in different bodies - can't quite get his mind around that. And he's doodled all Ten incarnations.

  • With K-9 he's certain that the dog is inside the metal housing, which he built since he kept losing the dog. Awwww.

  • He's drawn Rose a few times throughout the journal - the shot we saw in the episode ("she keeps walking away"), in the TV (Idiot's Lantern), and again when he talks about seeing her with gold eyes. He tends to write things over and over sometimes. One thing that I found interesting was a phrase "she wrote a letter on rose petals, scattered through time..." (referring to Bad Wolf) and the last time it's "Rose petals" with a capital R. Little things like that are neat.

He's also doodled roses here and there. "I find myself wanting to draw a perfect rose although I cannot find a rose anywhere!"

  • Martha gets a couple of pages, but her face is blurred and he's annoyed that he can never see her. He draws her with a question mark over her face. He knows she's important, but can't figure out why.

  • There's a page that's a bit wild - it seems to be a prophesy of Utopia (with maybe a dash of Journey's End). How could John Smith see this? "I have seen the opposite of a star. A darkness rather than a light on the void. There is a world that lives there, terribly close to disaster. It feels most like a vision, a prophesy. Like something out of astrology, that the placing of these stars is important."

But really, loads of stuff. 78 pages worth. My precious. :D

And the sonic screwdriver lights up. Hee! Now only if it were real - I could use one of those.

Sounds to me like they're talking about Krop Tor there.

Oh, I didn't even think about that! Hmm. You could be right.

Mine just arrived; I haven't gotten to pop it yet. I'm looking forward to it!

I had to finally put it away. I really should be doing work. :D

(The Vortex Manipulator looks pretty great too!)

That's Jack's wrist thingie, right?

Given that the original artwork for the Journal was done in conjunction with HN/FoB, that's the only thing I can think of.

I still want a big, pretty version.

Yes.

I think it was the whole "prophesy" thing that made me wonder if they threw that in as foreshadowing. Foreshadowing that absolutely no one would see until 2 years after the fact. :D

I STILL would love to know who really wrote this journal.

I still want a big, pretty version.

I'd love that too.

I'm pretty sure they mention her by at least first name during either the podcast or DVD commentary for one of the parts.

Oooh!
