The show is back!! \o/ And even though I can't say this is one of my favorite episodes, I'd still rather watch this than most everything else on TV right now.

Can Sophie come back yet? I'm sorry, but I just don't buy Jeri Ryan as a grifter. Yes she can put on librarian glasses or wedge herself into a tight dress, but to me a grifter is someone who oozes charm. They're a snake. Sophie was a slippery snake, which I mean in a good way. (Hell, she even conned the Leverage crew after they'd been together for a while.) Jeri Ryan/Tara is more a...square bull peg in a round china shop hole. The show keeps telling us just how good she is, in hopes we don't notice. The show is more of a snake than Tara is.

It's not really a good fit, and when can Sophie come back? I'm not sure what Leverage's filming schedule was like, but hopefully they took a break (like they took an airing break) which would give Gina Bellman more time to be pregnant and do the baby thing and then come back. *grabby hands*

I'm happy to have it back too.

I don't like Tara either. She has zero chemistry with any of them. And is not believable either.

But then I don't like Jeri Ryan either. So that was never going to help.

I'm hoping Sophie is back before the end of the season but I'm not sure she is.

Hmm why do I not have a leverage icon...

I've never watched her in anything before, but I wasn't really impressed with her acting. But I'm not sure if it's an actor or a writer thing.

*crosses fingers for Sophie*

No, it's the actor trust me. She's wooden in everything. in fact she prety much acts the same in everything shes been in.

She came into voyager in s4 and ruined it. And yeah that was all tight catsuits too. *sigh*

I thought she was good as Seven of Nine, but (a) I HATED th catsuit and (b) hated how the show become Voyager: Seven of Nine, but I ADORE Roxann Dawson/B'Elanna and they basically gave so much of her role to Seven and it pissed me off.

I do really appreciate that instead of doing another "lolcatwalks" thing that I feel like I've seen on every. show. I watch lately, this at least addressed the knockoff/mafia/labor side of the fashion world. Yay for that!

In my house we were all kind of hoping Sophie would turn off the video and walk into the room. *sigh* I get that the the finale and premiere used standard introduction tropes (She can con them! She's Not Like Sophie! She doesn't get along! Except when she suddenly does!) but she's just not very...fun, I guess.

*nods* It's the ugly side of fashion no one ever talks about.

I was waiting for that too! But all we got were credits. Hmph.

For a grifter, she really doesn't want to fit in very much. I find this extremely odd.

I agree with your problems about Tara, but what really bugs is that she's not even a regular cast member and yet in both of her eps, we're seeing her as the secondary lead and less of the actual legit cast members. GRRR! I need more Hardison and Parker, thank you very much!

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-01-15 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! They're focusing so much on her to try to get us to like her, and everyone else is twiddling their thumbs in the background.

[identity profile] jupisan.livejournal.com 2010-01-15 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Tara is bleh, I try to ignore her. I was hoping that she double-crossed them and shell be kicked off the show damn time.
I liked the last episode with her in it, why because she was hardly in it at all. I want that please.
I also want Hardison,Paker, the big dude and Ford air time please. its not the Tara show, dont want that.

Yeah, same here. Tara can fade into the background now, please.

I had a difficult time watching because of Tara. They're shoving her down our throat and she's grating. I want her to go away because this is really one of the only shows I like right now.

I really wish they would stop telling us how awesome she is.

I liked Tara? I like that it's a rocky, bumpy road, I want to know about her history with Sophie, and I'm thrilled at the concept of a primetime show with three female characters who actually converse and are allowed to do shit (I'm probably sounding the death knell for it, right there).

I didn't find her wooden or unbelievable at all--she's not really in this to get along with them, she's in it for money. And she has no use for any of them.

[identity profile] mrv3000.livejournal.com 2010-01-16 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, three female characters who actually do things and talk about stuff other than boys? Is that possible?

And it was the bit about not having any use for them that bugged me. I think I'd find it believable if she was supposed to be filling anyone else's role, but a grifter? Even if she loathed them she should be able to...be the friendliest snake ever. I'd buy bitching to Sophie behind their backs, but I'd expect her to fake it with everyone else.
