This and that.
- I have to admit I only half watched Chuck and 24 last night while playing on my laptop, so...I don't really have anything to comment on.
- New Lost tonight! I am so ready for this show to be done, although I'm predicting a BSG-type ending where I facepalm a lot.
- Related, I know it's next to impossible to actually plan TV shows out (too many unknowns about being renewed and so on), but wouldn't it be nice to watch a show like Lost that has a spelled-out time frame? "This show has a beginning, middle and an end, and will happen over 4 seasons. Period." (I refuse to believe BSG was like this since I'm pretty sure Ron-baby was making shit up as he went along.)
- Oh, DW fandom. I know you loathe Rose, but making her a rapist? (If you don't know what I'm talking about, you're better off. Really. Really really.)
Although I have to say I'm not really as shocked as Otter, here. I wish I were shocked that fandom (any fandom) is capable of this, but I'm not. - Related, I know that it's the thing to cry "I can say/type/think whatever I want!" And that's true. But freedom of speech does not mean that people aren't allowed to react negatively to it.

That's the part a lot of the Free-Floating Psychosis branch of fandom seems to forget, that their right to post their sh*t is accompanied by everyone else's right to criticize them for spewing it.
When even the venomously Rose-hating posters at an anon meme are going 'Um, NO,' that should be a solid indicator for anyone that they're straight off their rocker.

I think there's this sort of warped mindset that can be out there, about freedom of speech equaling getting to be inside some kind of protected bubble. That's...not what that means.

Yeah, that's pretty telling.

WHAAAAAAAAAT?????? Yes, that's rhetorical, because I believe you on the "better off not knowing" thing. Sheesh.

I really wish this happened more often. But ending a show before people are sick of it is blasphemy on American Television. It's part of the reason I stopped watching Lost and BSG. You get to a point where you're all, "Okay, the writers clearly don't know where this is going, why should I care about what they pulled out of a hat before filming?"
Awwww.....shocked Otter is adorable. You'd think I'd been in fandoms long enough that this sort of fic wouldn't surprise me. But....just....the level of tastelessness and OOC is staggering. Just...what? I mean, what?

At first I loathed the UK's style of structuring TV shows. I mean, half the episodes? Or less? I'm getting ripped off! But generally they've got a better sense of beginning-middle-end than US productions. They could take a lesson.

Don't forget the people agreeing with it. Wow. *pats Otter*

Smaller fandoms tend to have nicer folks, for some reason. Possibly because they're so obscure that everyone in the fandom is friends with each other anyway. (I refer here to Ghostbusters or Blues Brothers as examples.)
:)

But anyway, there probably are more "here be dragons" places in large fandoms than in small, just as a rule of percentages.

It's very cute. (As long as you're not attached to the character in any way.)
I think on whole it leads to better written and more tightly held together productions. When you have 8 episodes a season, it's a lot harder to waste time in the middle with pointless filler eps.
I think I agree. I've watched quite a bit of UK shows now, and generally they seem to be better plotted out.

Please tell me that we aren't the only one disgusted. You mentioned that even some Rose haters were apalled? Where can I read that? So that my faith in humanity can be restored.
Honor H - if you want to read... that (not calling it a DW fic, sorry, it's not one!), you can co to Teaspoon. It's in the most recent uploaded fics, so it should be on page 6, 7 or 8 today. You can't missed the horribilis (as would say the Queen) summary, about Ten II being abused, tortured and raped by Rose during 6 months, post JE and how alternate nurse Martha healed him.
Yep, no kidding, that's the summary. Good luck with reading that. Try not to eat before or during reading.
