Bah. I couldn't believe it yesterday when I saw this, and I can't believe it today.

http://www.livejournal.com/users/wiliqueen/279752.html

So. Lame. (Do they realize how many millions of fics are out there? Of course not since their heads are firmly up their asses.)

But since we've gotta some up with a whole new rating system anyway, thought I'd get started.

BF-13 - Bad Fic - 13. Contains no less than 13 fandom cliches.

SM - SMoochies. Contains smooching. Reading such content may be icky to 5-year-olds.

VS - Vile Sex. Includes the use of butter during sex. Reading such content may also be icky to 5-year-olds.

RTC - Random Tree Cutting. May offend environmentalists.

B - Bambi. Is marketed as children's reading but in fact kills off a parent.

NB - Not Betaed. Indicates fic was probably written using a Michael Rosenbaum notebook during 5th period study hall.

NAD - Not A Drabble. For the fic writers that can't quite figure out that a drabble means exactly 100 words and nothing else.

TA - Teen Angst. Contains heavy drama which may involve author's note.

H - Hobbit. May contain hobbit content.

And in a random, non-related note. Have finally kicked IE to the curb. *smooches Firefox*

What about:

P - Pervy. For those relationships that are highly illegal, yet turn you on.

PH - Pervy Hobbits. The same as Pervy, with Hobbits thrown in.

WTH - What the Hell? For the stories where the author was obviously on something.

Oooo absolutely! Love those!

BWAH!!!

There are so many reasons to love you. But this is definitely one of them.

HA!

Hmm. You sound like you're buttering me up. OMG!! VS! VS!!

I think we also need OMG EW for all those menstruation fics and the like.

*smooches Firefox*

Tabbed browsing has made my internet addicition so easy to maintain!

Oh, very good idea!

I know! Wheeeeeeeeeeee!! (And yes, I've got the kids theme going. How cute is a squigle smilie as a stop button?)

[identity profile] josephides.livejournal.com 2005-04-07 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I lurve the tabbed browsing especially. It's just so pretty, too...

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2005-02-16 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
In fact, from now on, a fic will also be reviewed based on the uniqueness of its rating system. Points will be given for style and creativity, and, as with all literary arts, there will always be a fan base for ratings that make absolutely no sense, but you cheer them anyway because you suspect that you're just not getting it because you're not smart enough and don't want to let that get out. "YES!! I admire your rating of LVTSQQQ! All those Qs are... quite dramatic! It's SO PERFECT for this fic, omg!"

[identity profile] alliesings.livejournal.com 2005-02-16 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! I thought Meesh's idea was pretty funny to begin with, but you've really taken it to the next level!

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2005-02-16 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
:)

AND OH!! People will start crediting each other for ratings. "rated LHS220, just like [livejournal.com profile] alliesings' latest cuz she is so COOL. *huggles*"

And there can be FANWANK when people's unique ratings are ripped off without permission. "WTF BITCH!? She used MY RATING on a fic that TOTALLY didn't merit it!"

(... you know, maybe that's what the MCAA is all up in arms about, actually. Maybe they think that us using their rating systems on terrible badfic will make some idiot think that every PG-rated film will result in middle-aged women giving birth to triplets and lots of erroneous punctuation?)

Let the evil fun commence...

Oh absolutely. Of course, I wouldn't have time for ever fic which would mean I'd have to appoint a board of fic directors who would most likely become corrupt and demand kickbacks which would lead to an SEC inditement... Camp Cupcake, here I come!

LOL

Wouldn't they? :D

My IE crashed one too many times. I'd had enough. So far I'm really liking Firefox. It seems less twitchy and it even seems to be slightly quicker in loading stuff. Plus the tabs thing. I have one window open that has tabs of email and LJ (and list stuff if I'm in the mood), one window that has tabs of Neopets *g* and one window for general screwing around on the internet. The organized side of me loves this since I only have 3 windows open instead of 25.
