Aww. Mickey Mouse is 75 today! Sure, you could talk about corporate logos or commercialism when it comes to Mickey, but generation after generation wouldn't have loved him if there wasn't something special about that mouse.

"All we ever intended for him, or expected of him, was that he should continue to make people everywhere chuckle with him and at him. We didn't burden him with any social symbolism, we made him no mouthpiece for frustrations or harsh satire. Mickey was simply a little personality assigned to the purposes of laughter." ~ Walt Disney

Am I flighty? And frivolous? Since I focus on happy, fun things, does that make me incapable of comprehending despair? Or desire? Or doubt? Am I really that shallow? Or that dense?

Since I do not speak about politics or religion, does that mean I do not have an opinion? Since I do not talk about sorrows, hurts and fears, am I without them?

Are not we all more than these text windows? Or must I limit my whole being to my play?

ETA - this is rhetorical. I've got a pretty good handle on the answers. ;)
