Aug. 1st, 2005 07:11 amYam quoted more in her journal, but I had to post this quote from J. Mallozzi's blog (writer and exec. producer on SG-1). Apparently he had posted something previously to which certain people got all upset (wow, haven't seen *that* before) and so he commented on it.
So, all this to say - If you were offended because you assumed I'd criticized you for being critical or for disliking the shows in past seasons - don't be. Be as critical as you like and continue to enjoy and not enjoy the show as you see fit. If, on the other hand, you're offended because I made fun of your crackpot conspiracy theories involving script elves and invisible writers - then, please, continue to be grievously offended.
MWAH!
There's this growing trend in fandom, and not just the SG-1 fandom, that not only do fans demand that canon bend to their personal tastes/ideas, but that TPTB must kiss anyone's ass who has ever even heard of the show and any insane thought that runs through their head. A PTB could say something like "I hate to disappoint people, but Daniel doesn't eat cake. *laugh*" To which some could respond, "OMG, since cake is code for sex, he just disparaged the slash! How offensive!!!" or "He's mocking the Sam/Jack cake eating and therefore mocking our ship! How offensive!!!"
You know what? Who the hell cares? Shut up and get over yourself. 1) Do you stay up late at night just coming up with imagined subtext for words? and 2) Just because you watch a show doesn't mean you're entitled to lips on your ass.
Thank you and good night.
