Field Trips
Jun. 9th, 2006 11:28 amThinking about the Scholastic Book Club started me thinking about elementary school. Haven't done that in a while. But, the fieldtrips! One class trip a year which was the *highlight*. :D
Kindergarten: L.A. Zoo. I remember sitting on a curb, waiting for them to pass out the sack lunches.
1st Grade: Lion Country Safari (no longer operating). Still remember sitting in the bus with the clear instructions not to open any windows and feeling a wee bit nervous. (You drove your car through the animal habitats.)
2nd Grade: We rode a train from the L.A. station to some firehouse museum. No clue where the museum was, but I think I liked the train ride better. It was probably the first time I had been on a train.
3rd Grade: Went to Mann's/Grauman's Chinese Theater to watch Pippi Longstocking. Yeah, not very educational, but Pippi!
4th Grade: Travel Town. A boy in my class showed me a dead frog. Blech.
5th Grade: A fishing boat out at Dana Point. A boy squished a wee squid and threw it at someone and I was PISSED.
