Rant and Rave

Nope nope nope. I tried another episode of Partners in Crime and I still didn't care for it. Francesca Annis just...grates. And it seems like the two actors can barely stand to be around each other. Tommy's always wincing at Tuppence. Not that I can blame him since the way she's coming off is a boisterous kind of stupid. And a lot of their actions are just plain ridiculous. ("Oh, I'm not going to call the police on this guy who just pointed a gun at me. Instead I'll kick him in the butt and that will be that." WUH?)

Could they barely stand each other in the novels? (It's not just a matter of "banter" - see Harriet and Peter if you want banter with actual feeling underneath.) And were their actions really that inane? On second thought, I don't think I want to know. I think I'd rather keep the idealized Tommy & Tuppence I've got in my head.

In other news, I've finished the first couple of disks of The West Wing. I'd forgotten just how much happened in that first season. I didn't remember that the CJ and Danny thing had been around since pretty much the start. And I didn't remember that the MS storyline had started this early. I'd also forgotten my love of their Christmas episodes - any of them. It's going to be fun watching this all again.

I don't have a West Wing icon, so I'll just use my Peter and Harriet icon (the detective couple I actually like at the moment.)
