I've been pondering S5's characters, and think they can be put in terms of The Muppets.

Amy and Eleven are Kermit, spazzing and flailing around.

River is the flouncing Miss Piggy.

And Rory is the human guest star who is completely freaked out by the insanity surrounding him.
