Apr. 13th, 2012 12:33 pmI've been nosing around in Disneyland news again today. Apparently the Carnation Plaza is going to be closing so they can put in a Fantasyland Princess meet-and-greet area. Responses are mixed.

A pic I took a couple of years ago.
Personally I'm pretty indifferent about it. Most the time it sat empty, with some swing bands playing occasionally. It was a good place to drop off the grandparents. And it's prime real estate since it sits just to the left of the castle. I don't blame Disney at all for wanting to actually do something with it.
In general there are some things I don't like to see updated. For example, I'm glad they didn't mess with the Tiki Room and that we still have Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. And I'm sad that the Gallery above Pirates is gone. But at the same time the park shouldn't be a museum. I'm glad the subs got an update, and I doubt many kids even knew what the Swiss Family Robinson was. Of course I probably would be singing a different tune if I had any nostalgic memories about Carnation Plaza whatsoever.
