tumblr, you strange thing
Jul. 22nd, 2012 10:56 amEven though it's distracting to watch the pretty pictures go by, here's another way tumblr is deficient: People don't quite grasp the concept of disagreement. On LiveJournal there's not really that problem. Oh, someone might get butthurt about it, but if you post something unlocked that's even the slightest bit controversial, people expect to get comments.
On tumblr people seem SHOCKED that anyone would disagree with them. After all, it's my tumblr! I can say what I want! Which conveniently leaves off the rest of it. Yes, you can say whatever you want, but people can also say whatever they want in response.
It's a bit of a confusing sentiment to run across. Maybe people think they're posting in a bubble? Which sort of kind of explains the public file sharing? Maybe people think that only their friends can see them or something? Whatever the case, any time I see a post about "why did you disagree with me???" or about sharing files it's like O_O.
And on that rambling note, I'm off to a BBQ! :D
