Guess who I get to see on Sunday? )

I was looking through old pictures this weekend, trying to find some for my Dad's upcoming 60th birthday, and I came across this one.

You never know what kind of lot life will deal you. I've been really fortunate to have had life-long best friends. We grew up together and even though we don't have the same blood, they're my sisters. I love this picture.

  • Spent Christmas weekend up at Morro Bay, which is on the central coast of California. Had a very nice time walking around on the beach. Unfortunately, my brother got sick the day after we got there, so he wasn't up for everything. But I got him nicely hooked on Lost while he sat around blowing his nose.

  • One of the nights we made it up to Hearst Castle which was pretty cool as it was completely decorated for the holidays and we took an evening tour and so there were people playing the part of guests in 1930s costumes. Very fun!

  • Doctor Who Christmas Invasion! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! So much fun!! I need to watch that again. :)

  • Can I not go to work? Please?

  • My new PotC 2 icon from [livejournal.com profile] josephides makes me grin.

  1. Had a nice Thanksgiving weekend which involved stuffing, pie and Oak Glen.

  2. Supervisor is in full wig-out mode. Which really is the norm now. Co-worker and I were talking about taking off one day a piece in December. Just one. At different times. And suddenly there were massive deadlines that *might* take place in December (not real ones, just ones in her mind). Supervisor then went on the phone and yapped on a personal call for an hour. Can you say mixed signals? Hmm. Maybe I shouldn't have secretly switched all the coffee in the place to half-caff. (Mwahahahahahah.)

  3. *licks Julie and Karen*

  4. I need to figure out a time to see the Christmas decorations at Disneyland, but I'm so busy now. This weekend is the Candlelight Processional hosted by Dick Van Dyke, so I don't think I want to go then. (I was in one of those performances once, which I'm sure is a surprise to no one.) Unfortunately, the later you go in December, the busier it is.

  5. I had a fully-formed GG fic idea - plot, dialog...everything. I just have no urge to write it down.

  6. Dad hijacked the idea my brother and I had for Christmas presents this year and so now we're back to having to shop. Dammit.

  7. Supervisor is now obsessing about what 2006 desk calendar to get. *sips half-caff coffee*

Books!

I'm the Auntie that gives books. All my little nieces and nephews (okay, actually really good friends' kids who call me Auntie) get so many toys (that they never play with) from relatives, it's incredible. So I'm always giving books. Usually ones I loved as a kid but finding a few newer ones along the way. Today I had to get them Hogula: Dread Pig of Night for Halloween. I love this book - a pig puts people who stay up past their bedtime into a deep, piggie snooze by snorting their neck. How adorable is that? I also thought about getting The Hallow-Wiener because...yeah. (OMG, the pictures are so cute!!) But I decided against it since the kids I was shopping for are pretty young and there's talk of a graveyard, which would probably scare them yet. Maybe in a year.

Mom: Speaking of evil deer, wonder when that latest Star Wars movie will be on DVD?

Me: ...

Okay, we had been talking about the nature DVD my Dad was foisting upon us with his laptop. "Ride of the Valkyries" had just started playing and I had checked the monitor to see what nature scenes would match, perhaps evil deer, but where the Star Wars came from... I've been out-randomed! *bows before the master*

Am going back over to my best friend's house tonight - she just had a baby girl two weeks ago. Another one for me to spoil! Her little boy is my "nephew" and calls me "auntie" which is just too cute for words. Best thing about being an aunt - I get all of the fun but none of the tough stuff. Also, her sister is in from Denver who just happens to be my other best friend (is it possible to have two bestest friends in the whole wide world?) The three of us grew up together.

Well, I'm back to working on the dreaded fic. The one that started me whining to Jojo & got us on the Dark and Stormy roll. I don't know if this thing is worth it any more. Hmm. Maybe I should get a second opinion, although it's a ways off from that yet.

About nine hours and I can go see little Brynn again!
