- Saw the movie Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy last night, and while it wasn't as good as the book or the audio, it still was fun. (How can you not love a story that has mice in charge of Earth?) The movie dragged a bit a couple of times, oddly enough during the action sequences. But maybe not "oddly" since what makes HHGG really work is the quirky narrative and dialog. Also made me wish (again) that Douglas Adams had written more Doctor Who episodes. (Still love the nod they gave in "The Christmas Invasion.") Oh, and in the movie? Arthur/Ford all the way, baby! :D Oh oh! While they couldn't have had everything in the movie, they should have said about the towel being the most useful thing in the universe! They were even carrying towels around, but you were never really told why.
- Watched the last half of Slings & Arrows. Outstanding! I would really recommend this whole 6-episode series. There were only two things that got a little cartoony for me - the exit of the other director, and the "evil" business woman - but everything else was just...refreshing. This show can spin on a dime from laugh-out-loud funny to dramatic moments that felt very real. And it was weird - I was actually getting a little sniffly when they were performing Hamlet. Loved this quote: "And I don't want to be insane. I refuse to be insane!" "That's the spirit!"

Mar. 11th, 2007 02:58 pmHad another bout of "dear God, I really am that obsessively nuts" and put my last DW post into the crazy filter (since
manticoran always comes around later and thwacks me if I delete it outright if she hasn't had a chance to read it yet.)
I've discovered the joy of iPod versions of episodes. They're wee and I don't care about screen size! [insert sex joke] And...I'd get these on DVD if they were available! But they aren't! I totally would! Take a look at my Netflix history where every last DVD's been/is in my queue! *eyes BBC internet legal swat team* I've bought books! And DVDs! And...I'll be buying a Dalek plushie this summer! Leave me alone!
